I got to choose the topic for our 1 hr sketch and my topic was alcohol. This is my favorite drink, the mojito! I also like painting green so this was very pleasant for me to draw. I've been mostly doing still lifes for training...1hr w/ref

this is indescribably amazing to look at. like something easily overlooked at first because it's clearly a glass of mojito, but then u realize someone actually PAINTED that. which is mind-blowing to me.... amazing.

Well, he end up as alcoholic and all records say that he was pouring mojito into his throat in liters, not glasses every day. Quite sad way of life-finish, especially for one of greatest modern writers

Nicely done! So these still life exercises are to develop your digital painting skills? Do you use these to experiment with different brushes etc?

Yeah a few friends of mine get together every other night/whenever we have time and do a 1 hour sketch session, and we each take turns picking topics. It's to practice both technical skill and conceptualization. Of course we get to choose how to approach the picture and sometimes I like to just paint from reference and practice technique and observation. I tend to experiment with different stuff on longer illustrations, for these 1 hr sessions I usually use whatever I'm comfortable with to paint the fastest I can.

I usually find an image on google images, but when I paint it I force myself not to eyedropper the image and paint from scratch. It's great for developing your eyes for color!
