Description Did this painting a few weeks ago of Amateratsu and forgot to put it up. It's a watercolor piece I did for the Otakon Art Show this year. Silly me I thought I'd be more authentic to the game by using Chinese calligraphy ink I had lying around, but I forgot that it was water soluble. So when I went to do the color washes, the ink started to bleed! Arg what a headache it was trying to do washes while avoiding the linework....

The piece measures about 1 foot x 2 feet or so...I never bothered to measure exactly, it's one of the larger pieces I've done recently and was both fun and hard to paint. It was also difficult to scan it in 3 pieces and realign them in photoshop...

watercolor and ink on watercolor paper with a bit of PS adjustment

Ahh~ the original is gone but there are some prints left. It is definitely one of the more artistic and beautiful games I've played.

Looks great! Remembers me of the Ukiyo-e prints *-*
The way ink creates shapes and depth, the soft pastel colors, and the long vertical canvas..
Great, love it!

I saw this piece at Otakon. It was gorgeous and I wish I had the scratch to get in on that auction!! All the same, bidding on it was the highlight of the convention for me this year.
Thanks again!!

This is INCREDIBLE! I thought it was digital work, but to see that it's traditional blew me away. I love the vivid colors and strokes!

Amazing!
Nice work with watercolor =3
Your result really expressed Okami's identity!
I really like your link between Amaterasu's tail and the inking brush =o

This was a good game, and I think this is one of the best tributes I've seen to it yet! And I actually think the ink turned out well. Very cool.

<3 Okami. If I'm wrong with the name, you can virtually slap me. xD

well, if we want to be really exact it is Ōkami (long o) but that character is so hard to find and/or type, and so unconventional, that Okami is rarely used.
so yes, Okami is correct
