Description From my series "Myths and Fairytales." Amaterasu is the Shinto Sun Goddess - basically the equivalent of Jesus to Christians. Her name literally means "(that which) illuminates Heaven"

The backdrop was painted by me and the kimono designed by me; stitch work by Kyoko, the model. The Japanese flag is actually only the red circle, the one with the rays as depicted here is the military rising sun flag.
