Screenshot like self drawn illustrations like the ones above are the topic of this new Game-Art-HQ art contest
Due to other projects like Link's Blacklist being ongoing now and artists being working on it or the Final Fantasy tribute, this contest starts right now and endures till sunday the 3rd November
Recreating a screenshot with the own artstyle as seen in the megaman fanarts by Pertheseus and the Street Fighter III one above is something complicated and needs time and creativity, i guess that not only the results can be some great looking and unusual illustrations of video games, but also be a true challenge for participating artists.
rules: 1 entry per artist, no strong violence, no nudity, no fetish stuff, its up to you what kind of a screenshot you use as reference and also which game is totally your choice. If there are energy bars, heart containers, left time numbe

This stuff was created for 3 reasons one for an artbook submission, two for your contest and 3, of course for pleasure
the submission deadline for the artbook the artbook is now too short to finishing this image , but for shure I'll have finishing this piece in novembre !

Shadowloo Showdown tribute contest, a artbook edited by bosslogic. I thank it was a great idea because this fan art could be great for this artbook and your contest but I was so busy, that I can't finished this stuff before the deadline ( even if they say that it's ok after the 30 august ) . I hope Udon will make a artbook fan art soon

Hmm bosslogic is behind an artbook? But not just digital, its also going to be published on paper right? Maybe i should ask him once what it needs to publish an art book, i have so many connections here on dA that the content for an SF, Mario, Zelda etc artbook would be no problem at all

Yes there will have paper and a digital copy. You should ask Kobe, that will be a great idea ! the only problem is for the copyright, Bosslogic says that this artbook is owned by the companies that own the rights to them (Capcom, Warner Bros. Games, Marvel, etc.), That must be the most difficult, in my opinion.
they just say that the deadline is extended to 7th sept, so it still possible for me
