Description
I did the sketch for this several months ago.
But, as is the case with the chapters in this story itself...
Old groundwork makes for better results... I suppose? I certainly wouldn't have had this exact background, since it didn't exist when I did the sketch.
There's space at the top for the title. I tried to keep the characters as on-model as possible and even though there's a few things off, I think Adam would even fool me into thinking he was official at first glance. The vectory, angular, flat-colored style of the Hollow makes it decently easy to replicate in GIMP.
And now that I have the cover art, I'm going to start publishing the chapters here on DA, just to have it available somewhere besides Ao3. I may post in on Fanfiction as well but I'd have to remove the lyrics I include at the beginning of every chapter, which is one of my favorite things about each chapter release. :<
For those unaware, WHAT LIES BEYOND is the second book in an ongoing trilogy of a Post-Season 1 Alternate Continuity I started writing back in 2018, about a month and a half after the show first came out. As such, the universe and character interpretations are entirely my own, and the universe it takes place in is referred to as the "Beyondverse". The Beyondverse itself has several offshoots unrelated to this story's narrative.
As for What Lies Beyond, the story is rising to its climax. I'm sure you've probably checked out Post Hollow Syndrome already, but if you haven't read the very different sequel, this is the very different sequel. PHS is required reading to understand some references in the first few chapters, provides hints for certain reveals, and builds an understanding of what's worth striving toward in WLB. But while WLB is PHS's direct sequel, the story of WLB exists largely independent of PHS as COULD be read without it--- you'd just be missing some details and points of reference.

SUMMARY:
A new realm of confusion meets Adam, Mira and Kai as they awaken in an environment they do not recognize--- yet feel as if they should. They are alone again, their only company the machines surrounding them and their memories of the ordinary world they've just left.
Is this the real world? Because if it is, they would rather have remained digital forever.
