Description This gouache was inspired in part by the work of M.C. Escher, who got me started on the study of curvilinear perspective. Hence the fisheye look.

DD? I'm a newbie here. I haven't even really got a handle the messaging system yet. What's the DD?

This is so cool. I've tried to figure out curvilinear perspective as well, but haven't quite got it yet. I assume there must be tutorials around, but I want to work it out for myself

Anyway, the city itself is beautiful, too. Great job!

Fab perspective! Did you use a reference grid to help map out the lines and vanishing points? This painting is like five point perspective. Really great job

Thanks. Yeah, I had to build a five-point perspective grid beforehand. Manic obsessiveness is required.

Now that you mention it, I think the mandala is an implicit theme, though I wasn't thinking about it at the time.

Awesome! And I suppose, a very hard painting to make.

Gouache is tough. It's the only serious piece I've done in that medium.

Hoo... wow.
Dizzy now.
I've been turning my head around to try to see this image upside down and sideways. Heh, it works no matter which way you look at it. Love it.

great tribute... excellent work, I guess it takes careful construction to make a drawing like this successful.

Awesome. You should look up Dick Termes - he does some crazy stuff with perspectives & I think you'd like his work.
