Yes. If an animal gets its foot caught in a trap, when it gets to the breaking point of desperation, the animal will chew its own foot off so as to escape. "It's enough to make you chew your own foot off" means that you've gotten so desperate, you are willing to take insanely drastic measures to escape.

Hah in polish it must be really hard to speak for american "Tonący brzytwy się chwyta"  Tonący = Person who is drowing  brzytwy=razor, się chwyta=is grabing?  I mean if you are sinking you would even chatch razor to rescue
