Awesome! I went to Snowdon Mountain, but didn't do as much exploring as I would've liked. This looks like a great spot..

The whole park is (I think) one of the most beautiful parts of Britain. I've tried a few of the other routes up the mountain, but I really think the Watkins path is by far the most attractive. Cheers for the fave.

I agree - it's an absolutely stunning route with some phenomenal views. I had the opportunity to take the path again with my girlfriend last summer, and it blew me away again.

Thanks for the comment - glad you like it!

I'm going to have to put northern Wales on my list of places to travel to. It really is beautiful, I'm jealous that you got to see that with your own eyes.

Thank you very much. North Wales is easily much favourite place in the UK, although the Lake District comes pretty close. I'm glad you like the picture

Great Composition, I especially like the blue hues of the water. If you're making the border at the bottom of the oicture wider than the rest of it, you might consider putting a title there

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

d---b In reply to tizali [2006-02-09 12:54:45 +0000 UTC]

I did consider it, but I've tried it with previous pictures and I didn't like it. What I like even less, however, is a picture where the artists sig covers part of the image. So, I choose to have a little extra on the bottom border where my 'db' can fit in nicely

I like the perspective, but I think that roundish tree up top ruins the composition. it distracts the eye. or at least my eye(s)

I understand what you mean. It's a shame I couldn't remove the tree really. Thanks for the comment though!

liqiud13579 [2006-01-08 02:47:26 +0000 UTC]

in my opinion i would of went with a longer shutter speed, the whole whispy water deal, but great composition and beautiful water fall, like something out of a movie

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

d---b In reply to liqiud13579 [2006-01-17 13:44:56 +0000 UTC]

Thanks for the comment - if you look through what other people have said, you'll see why I didn't use a longer shutter speed. The first reason is that the camera I was using simply didn't support options like that; it was a 2MP compact. The second is that I'm a bit fed up of all these silky waterfalls; they look much more lively and vibrant when the water is caught dead still, in my opinion. There's a time and a place for each type, I think

liqiud13579 In reply to d---b [2006-01-18 17:40:17 +0000 UTC]

i suppose your right, its your picture, i just never liked how it looked when the water was all rugged, i like silky whispy waterfalls, but i guess your right, and if u were using a camera that wasent manual then u would have trouble with makeing the shutter speed longer. art is all about opinion, some people like stuff more than others

Oh it's cool, I can understand where you're coming from. Like I said, there are silky waterfalls all over dA, so I thought I'd try and capture something more dynamic. I still appreciate the feedback tho

Yeah, it's like that because of the unfortunately overcast sky. Thanks

Danny... I'm sure there isn't much I can say to this that you've not read or heard already at this point, so I hope you'll forgive any repetition coming from my end...

Aside from the striking image, the great color balances and contrasts therein, the thing that I think I like the most is... I can go there. I mean, just looking at it, I can hear the water rushing over the rocks, the wind push through the branches, feel the water droplets splashing up onto my skin... it's the kind of vibrant shot that really has the power to transport the viewer, and that's not always an easy thing to do.

On top of all that sensory mumbo-voodoo... I really wish I could go there!

-Shane

I really owe you something for the fantastic comments and feedback you've offered on my work. Thank you very much for it - it's massively appreciated.

I'm really glad you liked this one; I think the real vibrancy of this piece comes from the short shutter speed used to capture the water. Rather than yet another smooth, silky look, I wanted to go for something a little more vibrant, and I think it worked

well, you are more than welcome for the comments, and just having you take a look at my gallery is good enough for me! I have to admit that I came upon your stuff by accident (I think I was trying to click the person who you suggested get a DD, and I hit your name first) but I am glad that I did... there's a lot of great stuff in your side of the DA universe!

Who knows, maybe someday, we'll be in the DD listings together!

Stunning photograph and I have to praise you for stopping the image from becoming tradition and ordinary, as it is now is that its crisp and to be honest... purely breath taking.
The only thing that seems 'wrong' with the image is the lighting, it seems very flat and lacking highlights and depth, but, that's the British weather for you, it'll never do what you want.

d---b In reply to dendora [2005-11-30 10:51:05 +0000 UTC]

I know what you mean about the lighting here - it was a dully overcast day, which is why there's no worthwhile horizon to speak of. Otherwise, thanks very much
