The big thing was that I wanted to make Samus look like, you know, a girl. A girl who could still beat up Space Pirates in an awesome power suit!

Thanks for the comment and I appreciate the critique I probably could have gotten away with making the shoulders a little smaller, but I decided not to, and making the suit look more feminine was the ultimate objective.
My design for Metroid Fusion is still in the works, but I will say that while her suit does change, I'm trying to make it more believable, i.e. make it look like the Federation actually had a hand in making her suit. Right now it looks more alien then human (although the power suit itself is of Chozo design). Point being if it has Federation technology, it should look more like something you would see the Federation have. Enough with my rant, lol.
Hmmm, the Metroid: DH concept is pretty interesting. It would be interesting to see actual damage on the suit. But if the suit operates like it does in Metroid: Other M, would damaging the suit be possible? After all, any break in concentration would cause the suit to destabilize and shut down. As far as the beam setting, I hadn't thought that far ahead with the arm cannon, but I was wanting to do other things with it though. I may put up a picture with the alterations, but I really want to finish the suits first, and I haven't had the time recently.
Thanks for reading mine, lol

The Fusion suit was a bit odd to me. The intro states that while Samus was unconscious (implying that the suit does not need a constant concentration), the organic part of the suit remained. What was the reason behind the changes? The helmet, arm cannon and boots are different. The three diodes, blue "external plating" and "Metroid teethe" are new additions. Some of this is purely aesthetic. I'm puzzled at their origins. Did the GF made those parts look Metroid-ish for the lols? Did the vaccine "mutated" the suit (which would be a stretch).
It looks to me as the design of the Fusion suit is indecisive. If it was to be a Metroid mutation, then base it on Metroid development cycle found in Return of Samus. If her suit is of GF origin, have it more resemble the Federation Troopers form Prime ([link] ), 7th Platoon armor from Other M ([link] ) or at least the PED suit ([link] ). My point is that the fusion suit in Metroid 4, not only looks almost nothing like Samus, but has little to no with the looks of known GF technology.
I'm glad that you liked it. I was actually considering including your suit design into the game. Samus regains her original look near the beginning of the game, so it will either look like the classic one or the Fusion suit with the non-organic components regained.
I've been thinking - if the Fusion suit is almost entirely a GF product, does that mean that they will have regular troopers with similar abilities as Samus? Sylux did use a GF prototype armor and it did manage to replicate the Morph Ball using the Lockjaw. I say this because GF is the main villain in Double Helix.
It's fun to brainstorm.

Here is something to consider:
Samus may have been unconscious, but the X had already taken over, so they could have kept the connection to the suit going. That would explain why certain parts of the suit could not be removed, although they never show what parts couldn't be removed. I'm thinking at the very least, the "muscle layer" of the suit got left. It wouldn't have really mattered, as the X can copy anything organic, so they would have copied Samus PLUS the organic components of her suit, allowing "it" to interface with the surgically removed suit parts. But those are just my thoughts.
The design I'm thinking tries to incorporate several GF designs, so it will have features from several sources, while at the same time trying to stay true to the overall "feel" of the Fusion Suit, without looking organic as well as a complete departure from the original concept.
As for your last question, I don't think that is necessarily the case. The organic components of her suit remain, so she still "technically" has her suit, just minus the armor. So going that route she would still be able to use her "suit" related abilities, like the morph ball. I've got some sketches of the fusion suit design. I'll try to get them scanned and uploaded so you can see the route I'm taking.

I'm very curious about the new suit.
This is the best explanation I could find on Metroid Database (credit goes to sirboulevard [link] ):
"Now the since the energy supply is in her body the suit must interface directly into her nervous system to retrieve it. The suit is then basically tapped into her as a cyborg. This creates the effect that she can feel hits on her armor like it was her skin. Since the suit is already in the nervous system the on/off switch is mentally controlled allowing her to "will" the suit on and off. If she's incapacitated the suit, acting as part of her body, will run automatically (we have these functions when we are unconcious with breathing, heartbeat, etc.) since it is receiving energy flow. When stressed the human body redirects the energy in the nerves to create the "Flight or fight reflex." If she's stressed to the point she wants / needs to run the suit may de-activate because she no longer wants to fight, ergo, the suit thinks it's being turned off (Bad design flaw, but the chozo weren't perfect).
When she uses Concentration, her body is suppling more energy to the converter to make more energy availible to the suit to create Missile or to fill her energy tanks. This also explains why she can run at "0" energy in other M, its at that point the suit taps into her biology directly, obstensibly to protect her from the environment, but another damaging blow will litterly drain the energy from her neural pathways (since it's linked into her nervous system according to fusion) disrupting her brain's electrical impulses, killing her."
My point is that a suit that could kill you if you lose concentration in outer space is dangerous, to say the least. What I could add to this is that the Suit could also utilize the arm cannon/charge beam for the Concentration move.

That was a very interesting article and I can see where the author is coming from. I've also come to figure out that no matter how you look at it there are going to be some holes in the continuity. But I also find that these holes really bug me, lol.

I like this; it's a departure from the usual depiction, but it's got an angular, alien quality to it that's very appropriate for its inhuman origin. Good stuff!

I may do the Zero Suit, but that will have to wait until after I finish the Power Suits. The designing is taking alot of my time, lol.
