Description           Cruentis watched from the shadows as three hooded figures set candles around chalked patterns on the ground.  The library was closed; the only reason Cruentis was still there was because he fell asleep whilst studying.  From his vantage point on the second floor, he was able to see the bolder patterns in the chalk circle, but there were slight details at its edges that were too far away to be clearly visible.  The six unlit candles were evenly placed around it were each of a different color; they were red, white, green, yellow, violet, and blue respectively.
Cruentis watched from the shadows as three hooded figures set candles around chalked patterns on the ground.
He wasn't sure what was going on, but Cruentis had a sense of foreboding about what he was witnessing.  Summonings were not an uncommon occurrence, but there was an aura about this ritual that unsettled him.  Only when the three figures left the room did he move to acquire a superior vantage point from which to observe without their notice.
From his new hiding spot, Cruentis was able to see the intricate patterns and symbols within the circle.  They were more advanced than anything he'd studied before, though they were strangely familiar.  The three figures came back into the room, but this time they were carrying several items.  They resumed chalking circles on the ground in different colors.  Whereas the initial circle was chalked in black, the six circles placed around it were the same colors as the candles that connected them together as medians.  As the patterns and symbols were filled in, he understood why the main summoning circle was familiar; it was a combination of the six summon circles being arranged around it.
As one of the hooded figures paused, Cruentis slunk back into the shadows, narrowly escaping the figure's cautious gaze.
"What's the matter?" one of the other two asked.
Still gazing up at where Cruentis was cloaked in darkness, the first hooded figure waited before replying, "It's nothing, thought I saw someone."
The third hooded figure snickered at the first's comment.  "That's always like you Al, seeing things that aren't there."
"Well last I checked, it was 'seeing things that aren't there' that brought about this little theory of ours, now wasn't it?"
"Noticing a pattern and seeing shadows are two different things."
"Will you two be quiet and help me finish the inscriptions?  We only have the circles of wind, earth, and lightning to complete; then the hard part comes."
As the three resumed their work, Cruentis crept forward to observe, this time trying to recognize who "Al" and the others were.  He soon found this effort to be futile, as the hoods draped over their heads cast shadows over their faces making them unrecognizable.  As the last chalk circles were completed, the three figures placed objects at the center of each.  A lit oil lantern in the red circle, a glass of ice in the white circle, a fan in the green circle, pile of clay in the yellow circle, an active circuit board in the purple circle, and a glass of water in the blue circle.  It was rumored that if summon circles were combined properly, then it would allow more powerful entities to be summoned, but no one really knew the "proper" way to combine them.  Staying hidden, Cruentis decided that it would be worthwhile to see if these three had really figured out how to do it.
"You guys sure that we should be doing this?  I feel like something's missing."
"Al, how many times do I have to tell you, there's nothing to worry about?"  The third figure stated, exasperatedly.   "After you realized how combining summon circles work, I've spent all the time and made all the precautions needed in designing this setup by the pattern you saw, this will work and we will have one of the most powerful beasts at out command."
"What if he refuses to serve us?"
"Then we'll summon him again and again and again until he does."
The first figure then chimed in, "Besides, if he doesn't cooperate, I know a few spells to persuade him to help us, as long as the protection addendums prevent him from retaliating."
A bit more relieved by the reassurance, Al went back to work on his segment.
Once the final symbols were set into place, the three hooded figures stood around the whole of it in even intervals.  Then they began chanting under their breaths, resulting in the three candles each figure was closest to coming to life with fire, colored to match their respective candles.  They rotated to chant once more, lighting the three remaining candles.  Once all six candles were alight with fire, two of the figures continued to chant whilst "Al" called aloud, "By the powers of fire, ice, wind, earth, lighting, and water upon this full moon night; we summon you, Fenrir, the lunar wolf!"  The six surrounding summon circles began glowing as the fires belonging to the candles changed to black.
Cruentis knew of Fenrir, it was rumored that he was the strongest of all the summoned beasts though time had drained him of his powers.  He is still a formidable beast to face, even though he is now merely a shadow of his former self.  As the six elements fused together forming the gigantic wolf, he could hardly pull his eyes away.  Its body was a deep violet with patches of dark blue, its mane and tail were a violet-white; this entity was truly a sight to behold, a sight that hadn't been seen for nearly a millennium.
Glaring at the hooded figures before him, Fenrir growled, "Why hast thou summoned me?"
The same man that called out to summon Fenrir then stepped closer to the great beast and stated "Fenrir, we call you forth from your realm with a simple request, we wish to form a blood pact with you."
The gall of these three stunned Cruentis.  To form a blood pact with a summoned creature—any summoned creature—was a great request that was not to be taken lightly.  Once a blood pact is formed, the human recipient is granted the ability to summon forth the beast whenever he or she wished.  There are only two ways to form a blood pact: by request, or by besting a prime avatar of the summoned beast in combat.  The former is less likely to be successful whereas the latter bares the risk of death.
Letting out a low, husky growl that, to Cruentis, sounded like laughter, Fenrir commented "You fools must think me weak as an elemental to make such a request… and without a protection addendum to your summoning circles either."
Al and one of the figure's heads whipped around to the third, but before they could say a single word, the great beast leapt forth clawing Al down before biting the arm of the next closest off and lastly clamping his jaws shut around the third's throat.  Then, as he began to fade back into his realm, Fenrir's eyes came to rest upon Cruentis, making it clear that the wolf knew of his presence.  If it weren't for the fact that leaving the summon circle broke the bonds keeping Fenrir in this world, Cruentis was sure he would be dead as well.
Only after taking detailed pictures of the summoning circles did Cruentis finally pull out his cell phone to call emergency services about the events that had taken place.
