This is Mako... Mako's bending Lightning, bend Mako BEND.Iroh would be proud
I suspect that glove on his left hand is the taser glove that belongs to one of the Equalist. If so then Mako is using like a battery source for his lightning bending. Kind of like Cole in Infamous.

Yes, is cool that Mako can bend this but.... when the powerful lightning is used by many facory workers.... :S, the secret of lightning decrese a lot and with it his majesty :/
And Mako use it too easy without be an outstanding firebender, so may be this ability is now something easy and common X.x

Can I just say. It's fricken' awesome that Mako can generate lightning...
but it's even cooler that he can also redirect it. As far as I know, he's the only one able to do that in the entire Avatar universe. Not even the great Iroh (or the prodigy Azula) could do both...

The glove on his left hand is not an equalist glove. At the time of this episode the were unknown and unused. Mako is just generating his own lightning like Azula and Iroh did.
