Tro and Annie! I'll just copypaste my rambles for these.
So uh this is Tro and Annie the main characters in a story that STILL DOES NOT HAVE AN ACTUAL NAME IN 6 YEARS OF DEVELOPMENT, but you’ll probably always hear me call it and their world the VW. Annie is a small police officer who lives alone and Tro is a homeless delinquent with a very patchy memory of his past. They’re both SAD AS HELL.
The station receives a tip on a big pink thing stealing purses and breaking into corner stores and this is, eventually how they meet! They get into scuffle, Annie gets scratched up a bit and ultimately Tro is taken in. But something sinister takes place making the two of them suddenly very sick, it is not long before it’s discovered that keeping the two close together wards off whatever weird infection they have. This is a lot of set up!! TL;DR two depressed people from different walks of life that initially can’t stand each other end up having to live together for “””medical””” reasons.
Annie is plain and neat and hard working, she has a few acquaintances but no close friends and spends most of her time alone when she’s not working. She stresses herself a lot over work and how other people see her despite not being very social, doesn’t go out much, and keeps her apartment very clean despite never having visitors. She’s not exactly unhappy with her life but she’s not getting much out of it.
Tro is messy, passive aggressive, and tired in every sense of the word. Initially he doesn’t remember why he ended up on the street and it is not some time until after he and Annie meet does he remember his real name. He’s seemingly very relaxed and comes off as a giant dickwad but is honestly one of the sweetest people you would ever meet and literally puts everyone before himself and goes to great lengths to make the people he cares about happy. He lives because he’s too afraid to give up.
Also! Their world is slowly but steadily being invaded by an unfathomable entity full of hatred and malice, its influence manifesting as various random inconveniences until developing into far more serious threats over the years. Such “quirks” as Tro’s lost memory and his and Annie’s infection can be traced back to this entity. So they’ve got that to deal with too??
