This kinds of looks to me like they don't have enough armor for full sets, but managed to improvise.

Very interesting soldier uniforms. The one on the left looks like she's gagged. Is she some kind of slave soldier?

Maybe she either has a religion where she needs to keep her mouth covered when she's not using it to eat (or other purposes), or maybe she managed to scrounge up an anti-toxin filter.

Or maybe she's lost part of her jaw and uses the metal to replace it.

Superb look to these ladies!!

I love the dominatrix-type gear that they are wearing and those blades look wickedly sharp!  Great ideas for the masks; I really like the taller, eye-concealing mask on the right figure.

Reading a book or a comic with a setting like this and characters like this would be compelling.
What's implied here is a culture based on predatory dominance and warfare that is based solely on that culture and not the current technology level.

You may invite me, sir.
I already have a setting somewhat like this that I write for regularly but it's been going through some troubled times. Now I need to read all the shit that goes with this.

GospodinP In reply to Internet-Cancer [2014-01-05 14:04:30 +0000 UTC]

There's not too much to read, really.  There are a few stories you can read to get a sense of the setting, but the only real "rules" are the elements listed here: torei.wikia.com/wiki/Torean

Internet-Cancer In reply to GospodinP [2014-01-05 21:53:09 +0000 UTC]

I actually read all of those.
More than anything my style leans towards warriors (solitary fighters working on a personally or tribally defined sense of honor and duty) rather than soldiers and the more extreme side of obscure fetishes.

My Devil's Island story is more or less "sex island" but with more emphasis on free sex and a war-based political environment and culture rather than BDSM.
If I were to write for Torei I think it'd lean towards their military. And since it is nine women per one man that sort of leans towards amazonian women.

I'd love to have more stories with amazonian types!  Because my first few stories were maledom/femsub, I attracted a lot of people who were into that.  I'm always looking for people into other dynamics!

So maybe a conflict out in the badlands, someplace?  Some kind of Czech Crisis in a tiny ringdom?  Special forces out to do some dirty work?  Or just idle warriors frustrated at the lack of action?

Internet-Cancer In reply to GospodinP [2014-01-05 22:16:13 +0000 UTC]

Well if you'd be kind enough to expand on the Czech Crisis thingy I'd be happy to.

what I'm envisioning with what little info I have is an army that is quite brutal, fierce, and barbaric when in battle. Capable of some truly impressive cooperation and bloodshed but in peace, just a bunch of frustrated dommes with no subs and only each other to find their release of sexual tension with. So basically lots of vilent lesbian stuff, unless of course the military has adapted pills to curb that vicious sex drive that the AI has imbued the Laminates with.
If anything since this is a self-described backwater, the military would go beyond the planet's surface in their star ships and basically become state-endorsed space pirates. I mean, that pent-up sexual energy would lead to a huge amount of aggression.

The other scenario is an atomoton-like soldier woman with no sex drive, which while more realistic isn't very interesting.

GospodinP In reply to Internet-Cancer [2014-01-05 23:16:38 +0000 UTC]

Oh, the Czech Crisis was just an event during the cold war.  Basically the USSR said "If this Czech election doesn't come out in favour of the Communists, we're sending in the tanks to take over."

I think the space fleet would be a rag-tag set of pirate vessels run by AI orders (rather than any individual ringdom), so your idea would probably fit well!  I hope you find the time and inspiration to explore this stuff.

What if they were warriors enhanced with cybernetic armor that were exploring adjacent planets? Or possibly rollicking around an orbiting greenhouse satellite?
For some reason I keep imagining the in an alien jungle.

Well remember that the Isolation Laminate suits were originally designed as environmental suits, so they'd probably have some kind of powerful rubbery catsuit spacesuit armour!

Internet-Cancer In reply to GospodinP [2014-01-05 23:44:32 +0000 UTC]

DARPA is currently researching liquid body armor.
That's more likely to be implemented than the spider silk armor that is being researched so, in real life the suits are actually pretty freakin plausible.
But I'd imagine that full body suits would only be used in space. As someone who likes physical activity and regularly practices with a bullwhip I can say that warriors feeling a lot of sexual frustration will NOT want to wear the full suit. They're likely to wear combat visors and cover their parts but not much more. In fact they're more likely to use PSDs, or personal shielding devices that project personal force fields. That opens up some outfit and uniform designs.
Nothing against rubber, but I like drawing straps and fetish clothing more than full-body latex.

Perhaps it's a cache for their organic booty plundered from larger ships, and they are either stuck guarding it until a transport can arrive or they're fighting someone else who wants to take it.

Internet-Cancer In reply to GospodinP [2014-01-08 21:47:15 +0000 UTC]

I came up with this:

Torei in my story is an affiliate of a galactic federation, a loose agreement of order for the Milky Way. But since Torei is on the very edge of that, they're not part of it, only an affiliate.
so the story goes that a small army of another planet has absconded with several battle cruisers and are a liability that have to be taken care of.

In the way of setting, the ships are crewed and staffed by females of the Angenous Void Corps, with criminalized males serving as "pleasure officers" as punishment and to attempt to curb the vicious amount of sexually charged estrogen aboard the GFA Desod. And our main character, Nossera, is searching for a way to get her fix. I suppose this is the reverse of the stereotype of homosexuality in the Navy, because this is an all-women military who regularly go to each other for gratification. Due to the treatment that turned them into the amazon version of space marines, the urge for sex has become a need. If they don't have an orgasm is 72 hours their brains will overload and they'll be sent to the medical bays convulsing and frothing at the mouth.
At the same time, going to someone for release is showing weakness in this warrior environment, so even rape is seen as a sign of weakness. Thus it becomes a violent struggle to make the other climax before the other.

Crewwomen generally don't mix with the operatives, since the crewwomen are not soldiers themselves and are in fact normal Toreian humans. The amazonian soldiers of the Void Corps are liable to injure or kill normal humans during their sessions.
Nossera has engaged in such a relationship, which I suppose completely subjugates her status as an amazon because she is terrified to death of accidentally killing someone half her size.
But she will be put on another planet to capture male soldiers of aother planet, and she specifically will go straight for the fleet commander and save him for herself.

Other info:
-The dominating female divisions of the Void Corps is all but ignored on Torei. With cultural emphasis placed on fertility and submission in females, the idea of a strong, independant female capable of overpowering the male population is taboo. The male divisions, while much, much less functional and more ceremonial, are hailed with much more praise.
-The Void Corps recruits freewomb and strong-willed women into its ranks to avoid having trouble with them on the planet surface
-Void Corps soldiers can survive moderate durations of time in hazardous environments, including the vacuum of space.

GospodinP In reply to Internet-Cancer [2014-01-08 22:03:27 +0000 UTC]

This is great stuff!  But I'd expect this corps not to be populated by freewombs, but maybe more by more rural women who've lead athletic lives of farm labour?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Internet-Cancer In reply to GospodinP [2014-01-08 22:12:47 +0000 UTC]

I'll change that if the freewomb thing doesn't fit. It's still in the formative stages but it looks like the Void Corps is composed of criminals and "surplus" women.
The main character is more or less a woman who lived with escaped slaves of abusive dominatrixes and had a former slave die in her arms. She doesn't have a positive view of ownership.
Which is ironic, because the treatment that turns women into warriors also puts an implant in their brains that gives them a chemical orgasm every time they murder someone. So she'll murder someone before she owns them.

In retrospect I think it's the idea that Torei is owned by anyone that rubs me the wrong way.  Torei is its own ancient empire come back from the dead to some day conquer the universe.  It's a devil still waking from its slumber, and doesn't answer to anyone.

Internet-Cancer In reply to GospodinP [2014-01-08 23:27:25 +0000 UTC]

What I got from it is that it is an empire run by fertility, almost an erotic version of "I have no mouth and I must scream". Managed by AI and run by men, I saw a distinct three tier structure.
It went AI > Men > Women.
That alone rubbed me the wrong way but I know a lot of people are into that so I didn't say anything.

But the idea that it will someday take over is interesting to me.

GospodinP In reply to Internet-Cancer [2014-01-08 23:32:56 +0000 UTC]

No, the tiers aren't quite like that  It's more like AIs > Humanity, and how humanity runs its affairs depends on where you are.  D/s on Torei can totally go both ways, but there's a lot of submissive women in the existing stories.

Anyway, don't feel any need to do the men > women stuff, as that's something I'm always trying to find ways out of.  I have a conversation thread around somewhere where we talked about "Torei 40k" where after it manages to conquer the outside and turn its conquest planets into copies of its culture, Torei itself becomes a lush world of Amazons who enslave the male minority.

Ahhh.
I mentioned both Domme Kings and baronesses, but I might need to revise the structure I described.

Torei is a dark place to live, isn't it? I need to read more on this because I want to get it right.

Yeah, it's got gritty urban towers and harsh remote badlands and mountains and no real pleasant spots.

I've got two stories that kind of set up background for the place, and I made recordings of them and put them on soundcloud: soundcloud.com/gospodinp

I think it's perfectly fine for a ringdom to be matriarchal, but that's kind of an exception and it's probably a remote place that isn't under much political pressure.

Internet-Cancer In reply to GospodinP [2014-01-09 19:41:35 +0000 UTC]

That's what I was gathering. It was set up to have intense urban areas and then vast areas of nothing due to caustic soil.

I gathered as much with that. In fact I'd imagine that women's rights would be a huge political conflict on the planet. And with my amazonian soldiers I think that I just broke the male domination premise because of trickle-down medicine and technology. Unless my amazonian military is something new (which is doubtful) the genetic modifications that turn women into resilient superhumans would be available. But then again there is a draconian amount of filtering on every level.

I sort of solved the issue with social stigmas regarding these badass women. The problem would come in if the general population ever was allowed to come into long-term contact with the army.
Which is a premise in Warhammer, so if I want to retain some originality I might have to revise or expand upon this. I do plan on my character gaining long-term recognition for capturing a fleet commander, or a high-ranking general from another planet. And her current friend she's with in the story right now was put into the military under suspicious and vague circumstances that suggest that she's person of value and that people want to kill her.

I want all of this to add up to these three characters gaining prominence and political sway. A character  like Nossera isn't going to be content once she sees the bigger picture of the universe she's in.
If worse comes to worse she'll end up as the head of some wild tribe of rebel amazons in the badlands. She's bred and conditioned to survive in those conditions and it wouldn't be implausible to think that they could build a new form of life in those areas.

Internet-Cancer In reply to GospodinP [2014-01-09 21:10:52 +0000 UTC]

I wouldn't go so far to say that my version of the world's social order is crumbling, and I really don't want to write that because that's literally 2/3 of what I write. So for the moment I think Noserra's going to kickstart a warrior micronation.
