We had a lot of snow this year. It just looks so white and beautiful. So I had to paint a winterscape for my landscape series. Hope you enjoy.Follow me on Instagram:

The long lines and curvature of the trees do wonders to make this image look natural! The use of blue and white also make it look very realistic, but by far my favorite is the middle portion above the creek. Though I love the composition of the bottom half, the top half--shrouded in fog with a combination of sky and clouds above it; and what I imagine is a hint of sunslight--further illustrates a sense of depth and realism. The left and right sides seem to reflect different kinds of forests: the left seems like mostly leafless trees, while the right seems to have some fir trees. The use of different levels of shadow really gives the right side a sense of darkness, while the left--without the cover of thick branches, leaves or needles--seems a bit eerie and strangely barren, but in a very believable way.
All together, it encompass everything I like about woodland, and winter: snow, trees, the winter sky, darkness and light, and even mysterious, icy fog! Definitely a favorite!
