Description

A few last items of note before we leave the Hudson's Bay Company Gallery of the Manitoba Museum .

Pictured are some various artifacts. According to the writeup:

Military coats, gorgets and plumed hats are presented
to trading captains in the 18th and early 19th centuries
by Hudson's Bay Company traders as symbols of political
and economic alliances. Reproductions.

Military sword bearing the HBC coat of arms and the
words “Bennett Sword Cutler to the Prince of Wales 67
Royal Exchange” on the upper brass portion of the sheath.

On its 250th Anniversary in 1920, Aboriginal leaders
presented this pipe and beaded belt to the Hudson's Bay
Company as symbols of the spiritual meaning they
accorded their historical trading partnerships.

A Hudson's Bay Company Indian Chief medal (1820) made
for presentation to Aboriginal leaders.
