ASDFGHJKL I'm so sorry this took so long, but I'l happy with how this turned out!! I don't know why, but I really clicked with flowers when you said "soft paletes" so I tried a multitude of flower-y designs. Most of them I didn't like. But this one I'm really happy with. Mostly. If you don't like it, you can sell it, I won't be offended! Also, change whatever you want cos there's a lot of things on this I don't like :'/

Anyway, I'm not 100% sure what they're supposed to be, but I kinda envisioned them as a feline-y animal. The ears resemble a chinchilla or red panda though, I guess? They're really fluffy in the winter, and then gets really sleek in the summer. Temperatures too hot will kill them though, so they stays up in the mountains. When they're scared they'll burrow in the sand and stick their bud out to confuse predators. The white all over them is frost. They can survive extremely cold temperatures due to their really thick fur + thick skin.
