First drawing submitted in 2007 - wow.Happy new year everyone. We're one step closer to another ice age.
I've used as less stock photos as possible for textures and such in this one (only 2 small ones) because I wanted to practice drawing textures myself and because my girlfriend calls it cheating. Turned out ok in my opinion... scratched metal and jeans textures: check.

i'm from the UK; went to Sheridan college just outside of TO last year to do a 4 year fine art animation degree, but fucked up when i got too into drugs. Back in the UK now working in an office and your gallery is keeping my spirits high during this most dull of days. thanks for sharing your gift!

85 favorites and no comments! insane. I love the details in the girl's converse, and her arm warmers are so cute. This is a weird thing to say, but I'm very impressed with how different everyone's noses are. The blonde girl's nose is very cute, and her eyes are slightly crossed. The guy with headphones is so awesome, his stance is wonderful, his headphones are way cool, the glow from his ipod and the shadow from his hat are great details. Overall, a wonderful wonderful image.

Wé mon poto, c'est bien terrible ton taff... j'ai regardé toute la galerie, c'est du grand! Mais ma préférence va à définitivement à celui-ci, comme l'ont dit les autres, tout y est, couleur, etc... et pour l'ambiance, je connais pas NYC, mais je suis sûr que tous les métros se ressemblent! Good job!

This is awesome, both artistically as technically. The shading and lighting is right on, and it accurately portrays people as they commute to their destination.
Although I do agree that the floor is somewhat off, not quite what you'd expect to see in subway carts.
This is definitely going into my favs. Well done!

Well, if Hannibal Lecter were to have a peek at your art, he'd say something like, "May I pluck your eyes and feast upon them? I'd like a taste of what you see ...!" Too, I'd love to spend a day filtering the world thru your eyes.
Your powers of observation are incredible and I am always in awe by your attention to detail. It borders on the obsessive; I like that. It shows your passion.
Q. Do you rely on your innate understanding of the behavior of light and shadow to get it accurate, or do you use something like Lightwave or 3ds Max?

Constant observation of the world around me and of other artists' techniques my friend. Plus I once had a job in illustration where I would produce drawings based on photographs. It practiced my observation and helped me learn a lot on the way shadows behave on skin and fabrics.

I find it interesting how everyone is crowded together at one end, save for the seated, sad-looking woman. It makes me wonder why she is so morose, and why she is seperated from everyone else in the picture.

ché pas si jte l'avais dit dans ton scrap, mais le pied gauche de la fille me chicotte à cause quyé pas dans bonne perspective (sauuf si son talon touche pas par-terre).
Mais OSTIE QUE TU ME FAIT CAPOTER aik tes textures pis le shading pis l'éclairage!!
La femme noire est trop bin faite ... en-fait tout les perso sont écoeurants!!
ah! et une dernierre remarque personnelle: des humain on raresment les yeux bleu-flash ... tes trois personnes de race blanche ont les yeux bleux (coincidence ptete) mais le bleu des 2 gars yé trop bleu selon moi (Celui dla fille cé crédible) ..................... et le nombril dla fille blanche est pas nécessaire je crois (au travers du linge)

La dame en premiere plan est tellement bien fait...c vraiment ma preferee. T'as porter bcp d'attention au detail et aux accessoires
En2, la seule critique que j'ai a te faire c que le plancher a l'air un peu mou ... mais bof, c saute pas aux yeux

Moi pour les couleurs différentes ca me dérange pas pentoute, ca serte un wagon de metro la, ya personne ki se dit : jrentrerai pas dans s'wagon la pass ke mon rose vanuire a la palette verte des gens a l'intérieur!
En bref, jaime bien, c'est sur que je préfère quand ta ligne d'origine est cleaner, pass ke ta une sal de ligne mon cochon! mais bon, jcomprend ke ca te tente peu etre pas tout le temps. J'aime bien la fille du milieu, sa peau , son chadail, ses jeans et souliers, tout est bien shader, félicitation. cé d'ailleur elle qui ressort le plus du dessin, et pour une fois, j'ai pas de commentaire a dire su les seins, sont parfait dmeme.

Wow, impressionant. Le metal fonctionne vraiment bien. Choix colo ca aurait pu etre plus balance, la je trouve qu'il y a trop de couleurs differentes, mais c'est pas grand-chose. Vraiment superbe, fav.

J'ai pensé mettre un colorcard au debut pour unifier les couleurs mais j'aime que ca soit éclaté et un tantinet dissonnant - ca supporte bien le concept des différents styles/personnalités à mon humble avis.

Damned the texturing is really great. The only one i'm not too sure about ... it's the floor. It looks more like padded leather then.
I like that everything is not "clean" ... slightly crooked. Gives it more life. Love the reflections.

gosh, that makes a great start for 2007. you got just the right topic of people travelling each day in metro. they all stand next to each other but it looks as if they're alone there, each of them. great knowledge of people types.
