On Saturday, 3 December, a group of students from my school embarked on a journey to renew the lives of the elderly at their homes at areas such as Bedok and Dakota.

The project called Home Makeover aims to give back to the community by reaching out to the old folks and helping them out with laborous chores such as mopping the floor and cleaning the windows.

It was great to see that the youth of today still has a heart for others and I hope such a spirit will never cease in them. It is quite unfortunate to know that even some adults have lost the compassion for others, especially for the elderly.

Yet, I think all we have to do as individuals is to not be constrained by what society thinks is right and begin to do what we feel is right - we do not need a reason to help others.
