Seems to be a favorite "I wanna be different" ending for game designers. Back in my day, it was a guy swinging a 9 foot odachi like it was a normal katana. You finally get past the bizarre renditions of him to the real one that's been so badass the whole game. Then he has 1 HP and you can't do anything but your biggest attack, or wait until it does it automatically.
