Description "...And then she charges me, still barefoot."
"Really? Was she trying CQC or something? What happened next?"

"Well I shot her of course. Only a fool would think to try hand to hand in a gunfight."

"Yea...still, it reminds me of that time when I was shot by some damn marshmallow 'bullets'. Are people even taking gun fights seriously anymore?"

"Hah! You two got it lucky. Some psycho bitch took my arm off with a fucking knife-whip. Seriously who uses whips these days? Is it the dark wars again? Do I need to look out for Demons and Ozcuras now?"

The intercom hums to life.

"3 minutes out. Prepare for landing."

AΒ  Shik is the Nebulosa of OtsΒ  name given to Kasparov Corporation produced Artificial Humans or clones. Among the artificial humans, there are different models, one being the Jako, what sometimes is described as a "worker class". While mass produced, and of somewhat substandard training, there will always be aberrations, who fall outside the normal standards. The Shik veterans of corporate warfare can sometimes be a force to reckon with, if adequately equipped, as these Jakos here are.

This dropship is carrying troops and equipment to counter attack 's "Sand Afras" (otherwise known, correctly, as NATO) on 23 Librae b.

Shiks and the Nebulosa of Ots setting is a creation of the wonderfully mustached

What do you mean variant? Black?

Shiks are just artificial humans, grown in cloning facilities. Shabazik has drawn quite a few variations of Shiks, but you've got to do a bit of hunting to find them. His gallery is pretty extensive.

Thanks!

Hey builds an army real quick if you're just mass producing anyways yu can send the rest as meat machines. You know let the enemy run out of ammo and then send in the best.

Beautimus, I love me some competent Shiks Really nice composition and lovely equipment. I love how you do the hair... so colorful, yet it still 'feels' like hair.

Ya, I like drawing Shiks in 'different' situations. Less derp, more competency... usually. The hair is something I look forward to rendering, sort of like the icing on the cake, so I save it for last.

Thanks for the comments, I appreciate them.

Derpy Shiks are cute, but competent Shiks are the reason they exist after all. I hate rendering hair, 3D or 2D or traditional... I wish I liked it, but I guess I'll leave it to you.

Crowded scenes are still a weak point of my art I feel. I am trying to remedy this with some of my latest images. Of course, more characters leads to a bigger time investment, so everything is a bit slowed down.

The backgrounds tho, are still the easiest things to draw. I like designing intricate background scenes, they're a lot of fun. :]

Thanks for the comment Xchovenei.

Crowds are my problem too, but backgrounds is where I need to improve. I like to blur and use watercolour techniques for backgrounds instead of intricacy. But where you need intricate designs is fitting for the period and the setting. It doesn't even take away from the focal point of your composition!

Thanks.

Hot Drop.
Is it just me or the gun seems so... old? That's a XM23 isn't it?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Daemoria In reply to TypeProton [2015-07-11 01:53:25 +0000 UTC]

It's a slightly altered XM23, yes. They have Desert Eagles as side arms, and the foreground shik is using a modified G36/SL8.

The aircraft's interior itself is based loosely on that of a MC-130.

I like throwing semi-modern tech into this setting. I'm creating this as a sort of collaborative bridge between Shabazik and Khal941 , and both of their tech tends to have ties in with the near-modern era. Khal's work in particular heavily uses retro tech due to technological stagnation. Their galleries are really nice collections of diverse creations, you should check them out when you get the chance.

Also, I have a slightly selfish reason to give these ladies 'old' weapons. It provides a clear difference from my own setting, set thousands of years into the future with insanity inducing technology.

Daemoria In reply to Alexx-C [2015-07-11 01:57:41 +0000 UTC]

This image actually wouldn't take that much time all together, if I wasn't so easily distracted. I think I spent 3 days on it, about 5 or so hours each day of solid work would be fair to say.

Ya, NATO uniforms are nice little outfits, I really don't have anything to change with those to improve them from Khal's own sketches/design work. I can say with some small degree of pride that I helped design the newest Soviet uniform tho, so that one is sort of a personal favorite.

I look forward to your finished image of that epic battle (*the walls have eyes), it's going to be awesome.

You and I should talk in detail about potential art trades sometime. I got a couple ideas.

If I could draw something that approaches the awesomness of Khal941 's NATO Strikes Back. I can die a happy man. This war is an endless counter, cross counter, guard break combo.

In my blind fumbling between the vodka and wacom pen, I might get close. It's just a careful balance between art, and setting everything on fire.

Eventually...i'll be there.

Typically when I draw up women in combat garb... they're going to actually look like they stand a remote chance at surviving combat. Thanks!

I never could stand 'bikini-armor', the principle of sexiness being overstated versus actual protective capabilities...just doesn't seem right to me.
