Description The 'Oasis' class main-battle mech is designed to excel in battle field control activities. Crewed by four (Pilot/Sensors Operator,EWAR tech/Gunner/Commander) this mech provides supreme protection and mobility options that exceed any single fixed location based command center.Β

Some pundits claimed that equipping a ground vehicle with a Type-Q cruiser energy weapon was unnecessary, and foolish. Yet the fact remains that the 'Caladbolg' energy weapon is a supremely effective primary weapon system, requiring no ammunition, and is able to function so long as the antimatter fueled reactor remains online.

The NATO faction is stolen/borrowed from insane Hobo-king

The Decker assault mech is his design, I only placed it here so it could feel envious.

the lighting really conveys the scale here. Also big fan of the almost hair-like spikes on the legs, that's a unique recognizable detail.

Thanks! It's one of the few mechs I've drawn in recent history that turned out alright.

Massive feet on enormous mechs is just an aesthetic I never really liked. It reminds me of people running around with clown shoes, or something.

I did sort of account for the 'small' feet on this mech, though. There is a gravity displacement field underneath the center of mass on the feet, with increases their effective footprint invisibly. It's all techno babble though, to explain away the feet. :v

man...! I imagine something like this mech-design on the role of Main Battle Walker. It's look like a modern Main Battle Tank, but, of course, with main caliber gun. Initially this is was something like Anti-Tank Walker similar to Titan from C&C Tiberian Sun (Схасtly from TS), but when after some modernisations and upgrading of concept, ATW-machine turned into MBW-machine. Um... nevermind) Art is beautiful Β

Thanks, I'm glad you liked the design, Mad-rus!

The Titan walkers from C&C were really cool designs. I really liked playing those games years ago, Tiberian Sun, and its expansion Firestorm gave me many hours of enjoyment.

The legend behind that sword is an interesting one. Who knows, I might show the Oasis chopping some hills in half eventually.

not too familiar with the term 'companion' when it comes to Titanfall. I'm sure the Titanfall mechs would have a tough time dealing with this thing anyway... Oasis is about twice the size of those things, with significantly stronger defensive systems.

The mechs (titans)Β in Titanfall have an AI system, which is active when the pilot is out of the cockpit. They essentially become autonomous walking tanks, or companions as I like to call them, as a joke.

Daemoria In reply to Wynnchester [2015-06-07 22:48:58 +0000 UTC]

Ah, that makes sense. I do remember seeing their autonomous actions back in the early gameplay vids... I didn't think they became much more than stationary auto-turrets tho. It'd be interesting if you could direct them with commands like follow/attack specific locations tho. Of course this might already be how it is in game. Forgive my ignorance, I tend to avoid primarily multiplayer games due to their finite shelf-life.

That's understandable. I enjoy single player games, for story andΒ experience, whilst I also enjoy multiplayer because it's great to play with friends and test yourself.

Sweet design! Like the battle worn version too. I was slightly confused though about if it was the front or back in view, but the big turret on top seems to be on the back and the drone pad on the front?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Daemoria In reply to Adriaan224 [2015-06-07 22:10:21 +0000 UTC]

The mech is omni directional. There is no 'face' or any anthropomorphic details, thus no front. I always felt that those additions to vehicle designs were utterly pointless.

There is full 360 degree sensor coverage, and thus no real blind spot on its 'rear' facing surface. The same is true with the weapon systems. The twin nested turret nature of the body ensures that no matter what orientation the legs are to the target direction, 2 or more weapon systems can always be brought in line.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Adriaan224 In reply to Daemoria [2015-06-07 22:32:46 +0000 UTC]

Ah alright, that makes sense. I guess realistically there is sense to having a particular front and other facings of an armored vehicle due to weight concerns, not being able to armor everything to protect to equal and sufficient standard without slowing it down too much.Β

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Daemoria In reply to Adriaan224 [2015-06-07 22:43:33 +0000 UTC]

The issues of mobility + weight when it dictates armor coverage are supplanted by tech advancement, Armor is still heavy, yes, but its effect on mobility is reduced when gravity itself can be bent.

Additionally, this is mech is where the field commander and her support staff resides. There really is no such thing as too much armor when it comes to protecting high rank command officers. Once I get around to showing the Wanderer and her acquiring of Oasis, you'll see that the crew were actually protected from the effects of the battle that completely devastated the planet ... mostly.
