This style looks an awful lot like Gurren Lagann.

Gurren Lagann only uses the black shadows in the stills before and after commercials and in some promo art. The film Redline was animated entirely in with the black shadow style. Takeshi Koike, the guy behind Redline, has been using this sort of style in his short animations years before Gurren Lagann, such as "World Record" from The Animatrix.
