This is an entry for 's contest, the theme was ancient asian~

The idea behind it is the old chinese story about consort Yu, there's an opera piece called "farewell my concubine" that's based on this story.

Basically, there was this guy who was fighting to overthrow the emperor (like always lol), and it seems that all is lost for the guy and his army at this battle. He calls on his wife, and tells her to flee for her life. She refuses, and commits suicide with her husband's sword so she won't get in the way of his fight. From her blood grew poppy flowers. That's why in chinese, poppy flowers literally translate to "Yu beaty (虞美人）", named after her.

Technically the picture was supposed to be due a couple weeks ago, but with school starting again and me just taking my GREs it was like OH GAWD I HAVE NO TIME

and she kindly extended the deadline for me~

So i've been working on this sort of on and off between homework and midterms (already -___-) and papers....
