Description
I have a secret that I can never tell,
I'll keep it on the end of my tongue.
And if from my tongue it ever fell,
Death would be most certain to come.
I weave words around the truth,
And spin a web full of lies,
If they thought I was not of any use
With the rest of them I would have died.
Another day, another beating,
But I keep the words in my head.
Times like this I stop believing
I have anymore blood left to be bled.
I block out the pain of my broken bones
And think right back to the start;
My platoon killed I was all alone...
And the ice was turned to shards.
The Elyse were gone, except for me,
As a Prisoner Of War I was kept.
My home has forgotten me, so it seems...
But hope has not abandoned me yet!
Another young girl is here with me,
Bound up with the tellings scars.
She said she faced the same as the Elyse,
And that her name was Char.
We both knew we needed to escape,
But we were too exhausted and weary.
Although we did have a plan in place,
We needed to put practice into theory.
So we bought our time in eternity,
Of brutal cruelty and ail...
And the day came when we could see
An opportunity to escape this jail.
But before we could leave this hell,
A guard arrived took Char away.
And I was alone for what I could tell
Was close to six or seven days.
Finally a shadow entered the door,
And Char was thrown in again.
She was bruised and beaten even more,
So much so, she could hardly stand.
I cursed the gods that watch this earth,
And close tight my teary eyes...
Keeping Char warm I lay on the dirt,
We won't be escaping tonight.
