Description character design for the Draca from Brittany. She's yet another variety of dragon than we'd seen from around London Drake's area or the new fellow who just arrived. The most obvious difference is the horns, which are dark as opposed to the ivory-colored ones of the dragons we've seen before.

Most dragons have flamboyant coloring since their size makes camouflage ineffective (try hiding in the grass, or even a forest when you're several stories tall). Brittany is rather unique among dragons in that her pale belly plates and pale blue wing membranes are harder to spot from below against the sky. This makes her an especially deadly arial fighter since she can dive suddenly out of a clear blue sky while most would be easily spotted from a distance.

Those dark purple hues also add to the camo effect for mornings/evenings

No wonder Drake had a thing for her... or was it a thing with her?

With, Drake's not too shabby himself by dragon standards. He may not have pretty stripes like her, but the solid bright red and gold coloring is considered quite attractive too. Dragons do like the sparkles, so a bold coloring like that is just to their tastes.

Hola! Horns for the win-- I don't know why, they just make me happy for some reason. I know they're based on some kind of antelope, and I can even picture it, but I don't know what it's called.

What are you up to? When do you leave for the land of the pubs and/or pirates?

I saw a couple of kinds of antelope with horns like that at the zoo the next day, the Okapi and Bongo also had some really cool fur patterns that I might use for other dragons...oh wait, I killed them all off, damn.

I'm leaving on the first and arriving on the second (of Feb). Classes have already started at Bobo, right?

Yep, we're slaving away in two feet of snow. :} I bet it's a nice temperature in Texas, though.

Wow, only a few days left! Packed yet? (I never seem to do it until the night before....)

totally packed the night before. I managed to fit everything I need for a semester abroad in one suitcase, although I couldn't pack anything extra, so my room is sadly bare of decorations or exciting books (stupid airlines, only allowing one checked bag now). Maybe I'll ask mom to bring up Fables when she visits.

She's cuuuuute

And purple, for extra win.

I love the way you draw dragons--how you give them paws and rather feline bodies.
