Description Sitting in darkness and suddenly warmed
Thinking and sadness and suddenly warned
A flame shoots up I'd all but forgotten
A love reborn like a Phoenix risen.

If only you could be here, share the light
If only you could hear, my voice tonight
If only I weren't afraid, things weren't all right
If only I weren't afraid, things turn out all right.

Suddenly taken by a need to see,
The face of the only soulmate for me
Suddenly shaken by the truth I see,
That my love be so very far from me

My life is now ruled by few inner flames
All of them important, all have their names,
God, friends, family and just as bright, you
This night I'll live our life, like I used to.

Resuming breathing with you in mind,
Begin daydreaming of you in kind,
Smiling, seizing the parts that make me whole,
Knowing, believing, you complete my soul.

So, this moment I'll throw away my shames!
Know, each movement, propelled by inner flames
Show, I'm breathing, compelled by deepest love
Oh, heart beating, it's you I'm thinking of.

wow, i like it i can relate to this a lot, i just have one suggestion, in line 10 "The face of the only soulmate for me" maybe its just me, but teh syllable count seems off, i would add in 'made' in between 'soulmate' and 'for', but either way it makes a great poem, good job

I've been knocked to the floor with the impact this has on me. My weakness is poetry about love. This, my friend, is one of those rare jewels that I come across every once in awhile. Your metaphor was a clever one as well. At times the feeling burns hotter than fire...

fire as a metaphor for love... second time ive heard that this week. Thing is, althugh fire can be the heat of passion, it soon burns out, leaving nothing but useless charred remains. I prefer to think of love as some sort of water, most likely a summer rain.

Not to be cynical, ATS, but all things have an end- and while love may or may not be eternal, all that remains physically will be ashes. It is the burning that you live for.

I like this poem. It's heartfelt, and well written; but it lacks twist, it holds no surprises. When juggling so well-spoken a subject as love, be careful about your metaphors. It is inevitably the unconventional that catches the eye, because it is the unconventional that shows us that which we have not fully voiced for ourselves. It teaches us about ourselves.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts! It sometimes boils down to the four forces of nature and which one we pay most respect to do you not agree? As for summer rain, that is certainly a lovely occurence..A soft sound of the rain against the ground and the grey soft sky..I wouldn't disagree with that anology myself..
