Range: Most fossil remains have been recovered from the Santana Formation in Brazil.

Description:
* A large pterosaur with a wingspan of 9-13 feet.
* Long, sturdy jaws with a prominent crest on top.
* Angled, needle-like teeth were important for gripping fish during flight.
* An extensive air sac system that took up most of the body helped Anhanguera meet the enormous energy needs required for sustained flapping flight.

Behavior:
* Soared over open ocean but was capable of sustained flapping flight.
* Likely snatched fish from the surface of the ocean with needle-like teeth.

Habitat: Primarily found over open ocean.

Food in the wild: Mostly marine fish.
