Description this became a night scene, but if you look at where I was [originally headed] you'll see that that wasn't what I had originally intended.

The lineart is =Scarabus 's- NOT mine!

this took like 5 hours in OC 1.1 with only my little white optical mouse
and here are some other versions if you wish to see them: [link]

later.
(I don't really feel like working on this any time soon, but I would like to hear what I could do better... for later.)

****
EDIT: editedi-edi!!
-I asked for good criticism, and I got it!
hence, slight change- personally, I do like this a lot better- Starlet is like 10 years of age, so this looks a lot more realistic
(I hope that you don't mind =Scarabus )

Anyways, I also forgot to include in this description the fact that I used a lot of Pixia for the final color tweakings and such on this image (most of the coloring was done in Open Canvas 1.1, but some of the touchups were done with lovely Pixia)

(I am hoping that this is the final version now, and it probably is... I hope! ...)

hm... I really want to make and upload an excellent Pixia tutorial for deviantART and everywhere else now

(and thanks for all the faves! -where on Earth did all these other people come from? o.o!!...)

aww~ that was kind of you (you didn't have to do that)

-Anyway, I'm glad to see you being active on DA again... since you live in another part of Florida and had to deal with that hurricane mess all those months ago I was rather concerned for your welfare (especially since I saw that you'd taken leave of your DA account for awhile) but you seem to be doing well (or at least "okay" for now) so I will breathe a happy sigh of relief: -sigh-

take care.
(and of course, do what's most important first- I don't mind late comments (or none), I'd rather that people take care of what's important in their lives instead of live on DA... XD~)

Beautiful
Lovely tones and colors. :3 I really love the paintery feel the image has to it, color wise.
Looking at the previous version I have to say I like this one best

Looking at this one, the original and your other version I must say I prefer this one by far. Lovely soft colouring, I like the water-colour-feel of it, and the outfit looks better without the exposed skin. Actually, it looks like a figure skating dress. (Ok, so it might have something to do with me watching the European Figure Skating Championships )

This is really really cool, I just love the atmosphere. *o* I think it's because it's a night scene, but the colors are sort of light. Very awesome.
The texture of your brush strokes is lovely too, her skin looks especially nice.

She's so cute. *3*
*goes to check out the line artist* X3

I love this! The coloring looks so.. watercolor-ish. I want to try out that "dotty" technique it looks like you used.. could I call it pointilistic? hehe
great job!

Hmm I dunno, it looks great overall. I was impressed with the coloring job.

Just one suggestion: The soles of her feet could have a shade color close to what is seen at the shadows of her skirt for the sake of consistency. Just seems awkward to have a pink color there. Come to think of it, I'm not sure why the soles are light in color (especially her right foot) since the source of light is from the top.

I love the style that you used to color this. It doesn't have that oh-my-gosh-this-is-digital-art look. I must say, also, that her shirt kind of startled me a little also. Or lack of shirt in certain areas. Other than that, this is a beautiful picture. You did an excellent job on the sky, I love it how it goes from blue to purple. You did a wonderful job coloring this.

hm, about my digital art style I really don't know what to say about it... uh, I don't know if I am able to do that ohsoshiney! this-is-DIGITAL!! look- personally, I enjoy things that look organic and not overtly "computery" (except when it comes to aliased arts like pixel art and what not)
I'm glad that you like it- Open Canvas gives colors that smooth coloring to pictures, so I can't say that it's entirely me...

...at first, I didn't change anything about the picture- I just treated it like a page from a coloring book (which is what I generally do with any lineart that I find here on devART or anywhere else) but... I decided to manipulate it a little bit, so I did!

Thanks again!~

Beuatiful coloring. Love the sky and the shadows, looks hand-done.

Sorry that I don't have anything intelligent to say. You know I know nothing about the digital art scene.

-what are you sorry for?
-it's understandable that sometimes it's hard to say something when you don't understand the process, but I don't mind
that's okay, I'd rather you say something anyway.

I appreciate the comment, and the fave! -oh boy, I REALLY appreciate THAT!
I did NOT expect that either

Anyways, go download some of the good stuff from my freeware link in my sig and play around with it (especially Pixia and Open Canvas) you'll learn about digital then- I could always help you out if you wanted my advice as long as you ask for it

Thanks again!!

Hey, that's really cool ^__^ The coloring that you did is really awesome. She has such a cute design too, but you said someone else did that so I'll focus on the shading. I like where you made the light coming from, and how it glows on her feet and body. It's really cute.

The only thing that bothers me is her shirt. I know you didn't design her Daiko-chan, but... honestly, it really startled me. Not that I don't see nudity in pictures often, that's what happens when you're an artist and hang out with them, but it's nice sometimes when there's some sort of warning for those who don't wish to see things like that. I've come to trust your art but now I'm not so sure I hope you understand.

hn, I know what you mean and if I've given you reason to be cautious, I understand and I'm not upset.
Personally, I wouldn't have given her such an open shirt like that (I wouldn't be caught dead in that sort of clothing myself!* o.o;...) and I'll see about giving advance notice about these things in my journal beforehand- thanks for being honest with me ...

(and thank you for first comment! )

*it kinda seems to defeat the purpose of wearing clothes in the first place, and I'd be really uncomfortable wearing that for so many reasons...
