All that short scene told me is A) Hasbro NEVER stops trying to get people to buy their toys (they'll even promote MLP products on a Transformers film) or, B) Somebody on the film crew is a Brony.
In-Universe, those scientists were totally bronies if they thought using "transformium" to create a Rainbow Dash that turns into a gun was a great way to spend their free time when their boss wasn't looking.

I don't care if the boys watch Tokyo Mew Mew, Sailor Moon, MLP FiM, My Life as a Teenage Robot, Powerpuff Girls, Lucky Star, Kill La Kill, Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt.
