It's hard enough to catch a hummer sitting still, but silhouetted like that is lovely.

So true. I happen to volunteer outdoors at this amazing local natural area, so I get a lot of practice working with these guys. It took me almost 6 months of trying before I got my first decent shot! This shot was purely luck, as he just happened to land right behind me, so I slowly turned, aimed my camera and hoped for at least 10 more seconds of his patience. I didn't think I had a chance, but he seemed interested so he stuck around.
