Ahahaa, I find that I use the tilted angle quite a lot in my pictures, I'm glad you like it. :'>

I happened to see this one when it was submited to the anime artists group and I say it looked dreadfully interesting so I had to click on it.... which is off task for me who will normally just spam click all the x's in the corner of the deviations I watch since I get about 100+/day in my devwatch.
I love bird like features and actually have my own birdie like guy... though he's more of an air elemental.... *coughs* I really really like how much bird your guy has as far as features though. I also enjoyed your background art. That's a lot of talent there and I really really enjoyed looking at it. Also your description was quite entertaining as well. ^_^

Oooh, this is an interesting character design! I love his birdlike features and sort of feel sorry for him because of his small wings. ; ;
I like how calm and absorbed he seems in doing his own thing despite his surroundings. Yep, eccentric. xD
The fish and the daisy fishing rod (especially the daisy fishing rod) looks great! So magical. ; w ;

Personality description said: "eccentric old sod".
In his mind, he lives in an industrial war zone where fishes bleed ketchup and daisies live forever.
Can I come and live in your brain for a while? It sounds like fun.
Anyway, this one is fantastic! – definitely one of your better pictures, I can see why you're pleased with it. I love the strange mixture between anime-realism and fantastical – if that makes sense? Like, Sebastian and the debris all look quite real, but the fish has a strange sketchy glow about it, and I absolutely love the clouds/puffs of air. Somehow they remind me of... I'm not sure, Chinese paintings, or illustrations from a story book. I think the balance is really well struck – anything more surreal or symbol-like would have been a bit much, but those are lovely.
Really like the colour scheme – the muted whites, greens, greys and blues. Sebastian and his fish fit right into that, they stand out but don't clash. I like how the fish is kind of casting a shadow over the water and glowing red – makes it look slightly ebil, although I don't know if that was the intention. The picture really tells a story – I can imagine this future half-drowned dystopia where bird-people perch fishing.
I think his bird feet are done very well, as is the cloak that trails into the water, and I like the little touch of the flower on the end of his fishing rod. Also the angle of the picture is great – it kind of seems like the whole world is collapsing, adds to the watery feel, but at the same time feels quite peaceful. Or not – but not so much a storm-is-about-to-break feel, like I got off Catatonia, but an after-the-storm feel.
And dystopia things are always fun to draw/write. XD

; v ; Ahahaaaa, surely you'd rather go and live in his mind?? Mine's stuffed with old hobgoblins who get in the way rather a lot ;D
Th-thank you so much, I really do quite like this picture. :> Thank you especially for saying the debris looks real, it was a nightmare to draw! And you hit the clouds' theme right on the head, I was going for the old traditional Chinese style of drawing with those. ;D Impressively insightful, as always.
I actually spent aaaaaaages debating whether or not to keep them in, but I felt the sky was so empty, and I eventually kept them in, with the opacity turned down. :>
THANK YOU ABOUT THE COLOUR SCHEME COMMENT. Making red go next to green and blue and yellow was just...quite terrible. There were times I was convinced my eyes would start bleeding.
LMAO EVIL FISH. The idea with the red fish was "red herring", which can be interpreted as rather evil, I suppose .
I modeled Sebastian on a chicken because, in truth, he is a coward. He hides away from whatever issues or problems he has and pretends he lives in a strange place where no one can bother him; the red fish/herring is symbolic of the fact that his mind is actually a buffer zone so he doesn't have to deal with things. The entire picture is really my interpretation of his personality, but I think to him it's a story. OKAY that might totally not make sense :/, sorryyyy.
Thank you for your compliments ; v ; you always write such lovely insightful comments.
I've actually decided to stop drawing so many tilted pictures - I've learnt that it's actually called a Dutch angle, and that artists shouldn't use it that much. After taking a glance at my gallery, I've realised that I use it far too much. =____=
However.....I still really love tilting pictures ; n ;
Yeahhhhh, dystopia is really fun, although possibly not if it were to occur ;D

Hmm. Looking back at my picture timeline, it all looks like a descent into random surreal gloom. I'M NOT SURE IF THIS IS GOOD OR BAD.
No no, I think your interpretations are very interesting - they're usually very close to the original; you always seems to be the only one who gets anywhere close. Even if they're not right they're oddly similar to my original thoughts, or closely related in some way. You see things in my own pictures which I don't notice myself, sometimes. IT'S CREEPY.
I heard that since it's usually used as either a "make things odd" tool or a "make a boring picture interesting" tool, using it too much kind of shows that you're desperate. Basically, I worry that it would get old very quickly, and I shouldn't rely on something like that as an excuse to draw boring pictures. THERE'S ALWAYS SOMETHING TO WORRY ABOUT.
LOL yeahhh I think one of the charms of dystopia is the fact that it's so immensely depressing. Makes it all seem like a romantic tragedy, hahaaaa.
