Shortly before the Crystal Incursion, the Vortaak enter the solar system, with Vorticia bent on enslaving the planet with a full-scale assault. However, multiple asteroids come through a portal and a few strike the Mothership, forcing them to delay their invasion. Vorticia starts to suspect that something is after her prize.
Today, as they make repairs, Vorticia sends the upgraded Gigan to investigate. The alien Kaiju lands in Las Vegas, which is turned into a vast, lifeless desert. There it meets up with Megalon, who was sent by the Seatopians to investigate the disturbance. The two strangely absorb some energy from the crystals, becoming stronger. They go on a rampage, only to be pushed away by Godzilla, Anguirus, and Jet Jaguar. The Meyers family notices the alien Kaiju fleeing past them, and they land in Seattle, which is engulfed in a volcanic eruption...
