as in real life this shadow is an almost colourless copy of the main object blended into the background with low opacity...
now you try. ... other things to remember are blur, lightsource, texture, colour, composition... good luck.
for this one I used nine different pictures with different textures and colour shades, walls, aluminum casserole, paint, ventilation cover... and more

Ack! There's no 'now you try' these days! I carry my camera everywhere because I have two jobs now, as a single mom. And I write poetry while I drive, in my head, and write it on scraps at red lights. Plus I'm taking a college class and that fills in all the cracks apart from re-watching Dr Who! It's a grand big life but I'll not have PS time for a while yet.
