Description Started this sometime during the summer of '08 and worked on it on and off until I finally got frustrated with it and rushed to finish it in December. One of my first real attempts working with polymer clay.

Sculpey and acrylic paint.
Special thanks to ~LMRourke for helping me with these photos.

Thank you!

It's definitely a different material.  Can be harder to manipulate, but the firmness of the polymer clay can be a big plus and you don't have to worry about it drying out and cracking on you.  It also comes in all kinds of fun colors  Takes a bit of getting used to, but if you've already fooled around with traditional clay then it shouldn't take you long to get the hang of it.
The biggest downside is the cost, IMO.  I still have some left over from this project... should really do something with it.

Very nice real attempt at polymer clay! Keep doing it! you have talent.... even if the werewolf does look very friendly! Love the variety of textures in the skin / hair etc... bravo! Peter.

Thank you very much! It's a bit frustrating at times but it's quickly becoming one of my favorite mediums. Can't help but feel like I have a long way to go though ;]

Wow. Cool.

Although, the placement of the tail is a bit...awkward. ^^ Looks like a gigantic piece of excrement.

Thank you~
The original tail kept falling off the armature and I was getting pretty fed up with it... I assure you it looks a little better from behind at least

What a lovely and utterly unnecessary choice of words... Couldn't have just left it at "awkward" or anything.

There are ways of putting it that wouldn't have come off as quite so rude...
I'm not the artist, btw.

I assure you I did not mean for it to be rude at all. So *excuse me* for not knowing the perfect politically correct thing to say.

Graphic and fun description! I think the artist took it in good part.... nothing rude about "crap"... very useful bodily function....

Certainly did. Sometimes it's nice to really devote a significant amount of time to a piece though... Most of my stuff lately has only taken me a day or two at most.

If I draw the character in 2 dimensions, this will be enough?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

dakazi In reply to Darkchylde-Lilith [2009-03-20 15:13:04 +0000 UTC]

I think so. A front and a side shot should be all I need, with a color guide.

Darkchylde-Lilith [2009-03-16 12:34:57 +0000 UTC]

I wonder, you can make a sculpture of the original character sketch? And what will it cost?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

dakazi In reply to Darkchylde-Lilith [2009-03-17 02:02:37 +0000 UTC]

Sure Price would depend on the size and the complexity of the character. What did you have in mind?

A couple of people expressed an interest but only *PhoenixAshesRats got back to me, so I'm afraid he belongs to her now.

Since this got such a positive response I might start working on a couple of similar ones, if you're still interested.

A couple people expressed an interest in it, but either had no money or never followed up with me. At this point I'm not asking for too much, I'd just like for him to find a home since I have no room.

Thanks :]
It's roughly 9 inches/25 centimeters.

Moongara [2009-02-08 23:35:54 +0000 UTC]

It looks great. I am guessing you must have some sort of armature under there. You know, it looks like some sort of cast metal, which makes it all the cooler that its made out of Sculpey.
One question, how big is it?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

dakazi In reply to Moongara [2009-02-10 19:10:48 +0000 UTC]

Yep, there's a wire armature. It's about 9 inches/25 centimeters tall.

That's the problem, I've never sold a sculpture before so I'm not sure what a good price would be D:
Just for curiosity's sake, how much would you be willing to pay? :B I have a bunch of Sculpey lying around so I might start doing stuff like this more often.
