Description
Technique: I spotted this beetle while walking around the yard early in the morning and photographed it before it had a chance to warm up and get active. I used an artificial flower to keep the background from being black.Tech Specs: Canon 80D (F11, 1/250, ISO 200 with highlight tone priority) + a Canon MP-E 65mm macro lens (around 2x) + a diffused MT-24EX (both flash heads on the Canon flash mount, E-TTL metering with -1 FEC). This is a single, uncropped, frame taken hand held.

It's too bad you can't hear me clapping! This is striking. The detail is so crisp especially since this is hand held. Look close enough and even the eyes stand out. Each and every dimple, bump and tiny hair on the exoskeleton makes this a great visual piece. What a great idea for the fake flower in the background, it's adds needed depth and variation. The beetle is definitely the focus but the leaf it sits on is just as detailed; fuzz, veins, color, shape. Luck was part of this capture, however, the placement of the beetle and careful choices in lighting and background from the photographer make this art. Thank you.

Thats a cosplay beetle imitating a ladybug. You should have placed it under cosplay really.
