From a technical perspective, this is an excellent shot done with professional skill and equipment. The framing is well done and the background is non-intrusive and doesn't interfere with the main subject. The amount of clarity and detail is quite simply, amazing.
The only real downside to the piece is the inherent lack of originality. Unfortunately, there have been untold numbers of photographs depicting insects on brightly-colored flowers (or anything else with good contrast) under a macro lens. Truth be told, a great number of those derivative shots are no where near as well done as this one. However, the simple existence of so many photos does detract from the piece.
Once again, an excellent piece that would feel at home on the pages of a National Geographic magazine.
