Oh wow, it seems he's looking right at you! Just as curious about you as you are about him...or her? I don't know (though I'm sure you do).

Awesome colors! I was wondering if you use a tripod for your macro shots or do you shoot handheld? I find a tripod is very troublesome for macro but if you do use a tripod, I'd like to hear how you utilize it.

Thanks

No tripod -I took the training wheels off of my camera a long time ago...

Tripods are too slow for the subjects that I shoot -a lot of my images are taken in the heat of the day when the critters are hyper active. The few exceptions are the Miner Bees and some of the life size and higher magnification shots I've taken of butterflies.

Edit the deviation and there should be a check box for "Allow Download" -uncheck it. When you push images up after they transfer to the server and the processing is finished you'll see a drop down box where you can choose what size the full size view will be (also their when you edit a photo) and the checkbox for "Allow Download".

Great shot mate!
I wondered about a thing, how do you measure with what factor you made the photo? As it says 3x life-size, some settings on your lens/camera? Or just a guess

Also wondering if you change any colour/brightness/contrast settings. As the colour of the eyes looks great metal alike.
They turn out more black/brown/grey on mine.

The MPE-65mm macro lens has magnification marks on the barrel that tell you what the magnification is.

I do adjust levels and white balance in post -but the final image is very close to what I saw in the view finder.

No danger of that. I wouldn't be able to find anything to edit on it.
