Description
Doesn't look like winter...Tech specs: Canon 40D (F13, 1/250, ISO 100) + a Canon MPE-65mm macro lens (@1.5x) + a diffused MT-24EX (manual mode 1/32).

Do you always rely on your naked eye for focusing? My eyes got fatigue rather quickly using MF. Perhaps aging has something to do with it, or it's an excuse for poor skills.

I have to use manual focus -even if the camera could focus the lens (the MPE-65mm is manual focus only) it would never place the area of acceptable focus where I need it to be. I look for textures in the area where I want the middle of the depth to be

I had the MPE-65mm macro lens set to about 1.5 times life size. At life size the objects in the scene are projected onto the sensor at their original size. So something that's one centimeter square would cover a one centimeter square section of the sensor at life size. Hope that makes sense -not sure if I'm describing it well

That's about all I'm seeing. A few drone hoverflies out today, but in the area I was shooting in the wasps are still hunting for protein so everything is nervous.

Concerning the photo, I am pretty impressed with how well the diffused flash heads work. The reflection in the compound eyes is so minimal. I absolutely need to try it too when my 50D comes back from canon.

Damn it, I just got my 50D back from canon. They made a revision and cleaned the cmos sensor... it cost me 300 €... is canon support that expensive in the states too?

They charged me $115 USD to repair my MPE-65mm.
