here'a an older illo,,,this was when i was in my "McGinnis" Frame of mind.. And i thought dr. Pandora was an interesting character to begin with...She's from Gatchaman 2, the first sequel to Gatchaman.

She always wore a tie, however she was dressed. Usually wore a white labcoat, or a catsuit.

Yeah, pretty much. Sometimes she'd sneak into places to gather info, and there's her one piece catsuit.Β I'm not complaining. the actual character isn't nearly as curvy as the one i drew.

I'm sorry, i just get tired of grim and gritty, dark and edgy, and trying to be"real".Β Characters having to re-learn honest values they always had. Batman learns shooting criminals with machine guns is not nice. Superman is hiding from people. Oh! Why don't i become a reporter? The Doctor needs to get over his morality, so he can really deal with bad guys.Β All of them are dangerousΒ vigilantes who need to destroy. to be cool.

they're not heroes anymore. A hero fight for the greater good for its own sake, with a moral center.
they don't even qualify as classic anti-heroes anymore either, heroes who fall to their own internal flaws.
they're just killers now, vigilantes just like the Punisher.
A Hero, tries to do right. Superman is a Champion, he represents all that is good and noble, you strive to be like him.
Batman was always a vigilante, but he followed a code, he doesn't use guns.... but now he does, because its cool!

Traditional heroes do kill, but only if the foe is unrepentantly evil.
Modern society doesn't see that. they just want guns and blood and explosions.... sensory overload. Because its cool.
they don't live in a real world...they can't!
they're morality stories, not reality.

WEll they certainly get enough blood, and guns and explosions. Sat through the last Transformers movie.Β Nothing but. And too much of that becomes boring. Can't tell the good guys from the bad. Don't go the movies much, anymore.

I have. There's some really nice artwork which I'll add to my favourites. Why is Volumes 6&7 of the Gatchaman box sets more expensive than the others, because I saw Vol 7 advertised on amazon for $1,114.77.

I thought the dubs worked well. Some of the voices for the minions were a bit odd, but overall I was very pleased.

Same here. Still, it's a lot better than the G-Force dub. Speaking of BOTP, were there any ads for merchandise & toys when it first aired on U.S. tv because there was absolutely nothing when it first aired over here in the U.K.

I don't remember seeing very much in the way of merchandise for BOTP. Let's see, some Whitman comics, all pretty bad. Some very simple puzzles,coloring books, and a BOTP game, by Milton-Bradley. The Phoenix had a model kit and i think Mark's jet as well, by Entex. I guess that's not a bad amount of merchandise, but nothing compared to the merchandising blitz for Voltron!

There really wasn't...There were TONS of Gatchaman merchandise in Japan, but little here. Incidentally, I was in an antique mall recently, And I found a BOTP lunch box! It was scratched and rusty, but was in fair condition, with an intact thermos. Price:$49.99...
