Ok, I don't remember if I've ever commented it... but well when I have some spare time (and it doesn't happen very often) I like to watch my mates' favourites and discover so talented artists here each single time.

So, today I'm gonna some of your pieces. This one is just amazing. I like the texture of the hat, and hair is just fantastic.
Nice expression, wonderful smile and pose.

I really like it!

oh wow. That hat is...amazing!

I love your graphite style, it is a little different than others I've seen, maybe smoother, I don't know. Anyway, I adore it, so I'll have to watch ya.

*handshakes back* I don't know what it is, the only word I can think of is it looks "smoother" than others I've seen. Anyway, I love it, keep it up.

this is EXCELLENT!
I don't buy prints (don't have the disposable funds yet)... but this would be high on my list if I did!
Wonderful details and the expression is priceless!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DaleNorvell In reply to madtomkidd [2004-08-05 16:32:17 +0000 UTC]

REALLY?! Aw, that's cool! I haven't had anyone tell me they would wanna buy a print yet, so I appreciate it!

I was wanting to add a background to it, maybe the wood from a side of a hypothetical barn, or a brick wall....SOMETHING. As a potential buyer of said piece, what would you suggest? What would seem natural, or should I leave it white?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

madtomkidd In reply to DaleNorvell [2004-08-06 04:07:35 +0000 UTC]

as stated, i don't have the funds for prints... else there ARE a few i'd get...

speaking hypothetically, though... i'd avoid wood/brick anything with detail... because it would detract from her face. If this were a photo and it WAS a barn behind... the most you would get from details would be color variation of a roughly vertical nature.

My suggestion (if you WANT to change it) would be to do a background "vignette" type thing... like a radial shading going from light around her to darker at the edges... kinda a halo effect.

Really, i think it's good the way it is... and with MY drawings... i'd get them to a point like this, do ONE more thing and then HATE it... so, you might leave well enough alone

DaleNorvell In reply to madtomkidd [2004-08-06 16:19:25 +0000 UTC]

Ah, okay. Thanks! That gives me a new perspective to think about on the background issue, I appreciate it!

Herlock [2004-08-01 23:39:56 +0000 UTC]

I think a light woodgrain background would look really good. But not too dark cause that might take away from the drawing itself.
