EnglishHello there. I'm working on illustrations for a short story about a young horse being broken by the so called 'natural and non violent' methods (Parelli, Monty...) It is also a critique to those methods of taming horses, because they are not always what they seem to be and even if the physical violence is not present, they use a high amount of psychological violence, threats and fear in order to achieve the horse submission. The worst part is that they disguise it under pretty words like 'leadership', 'friendship' and 'love'. (If anybody is interested in this topic or wonder why I'm saying this, feel free to comment or note me. I have been doing a lot of research and studied horse's behaviour and needs for natural care for four years now before reaching this conclusion). This does not say that the traditional violent methods are better, it just says that neither of them is good for the horse.
This is an example of the illustrations that it will have (We are going to make a printed version for Argentina and a digital one for the rest of the world). So, sorry for the watermark, this picture is going to be part of the book so I can't risk it to be redistributed in internet.
This took maaany many hours to complete, mainly because I got the right look on one of the cloud/wings, but when I tried to do the other one it didn't look right and it was very frustrating.
I can't upload the rest of the pictures because I only got permission to upload one (And this is the first completed one), so if I'm not very active with my uploand in the following months it's because I'm working on this proyect.
Of course any critique is welcome
I never feel offence in critics, and I'd like to expand my artistic capabilities as much as I can on every illustration for this proyect.Español
Estoy trabajando en las ilustraciones de un cuento sobre la historia de un joven potro cuando lo someten a las conocidas técnicas de amanse natural y sin violencia que están muy de moda hoy en día (En argentina la más conocida es la doma India de Scarpati y Sarli, en estados unidos está Parelli, Monty roberts, y muchisimos más). La diea es demostrar que no son lo que parecen, y por más que la violencia física sea inexistente, están llenas de violencia psicológica, amenazas, miedo y prepotencia para lograr que el caballo obedezca. Y la peor parte es que usan palabras bonitas como 'liderazgo', 'amistad' y 'amor' para disfrazar sus acciones y que la gente crea que un caballo lo sigue porque lo 'aceptó como líder' sin ver que todo lo que hizo fue asustarlo adentro de un corral redondo sin escapatoria y liberar la presión cada vez qeu el caballo le presta atención.
Si a alguien le interesa el tema dejenme un comentario o mandenme una nota, tengo un monton de información que puedo compartir fruto de haber estudiado por casi 4 años el comportamiento equino, las técnicas de doma y cuidados naturales. Ojo, no quiere decir que esté a favor de la doma tradicional violenta, sólo digo que ambos métodos son malos para los caballos.
El dibujo tomó miles de horas, principalmente porque pinté un ala/nube priemro y no pude obtener el mismo resultado en la otra (y la hice muuchas veces). Fue muy frustrarte jaja.
No voy a subir los demás dibujos porque solo tengo permiso para mostrar uno, así que voy a estar con poca actividad en los siguientes meses.
Por supuesto que las críticas son bienvenidas, y cualquier consejo que me ayude a mejorar es muy apreciado

Hermosa ilustración, me encantan los caballos! Lamentablemente no tengo mucha experiencia con ellos, jamás tuve. Igual me parecen hermosos, me interesa la información que comentas.
¿La historia la estás escribiendo tú o alguien más? Digo porque no tienes permiso de mostrar otras o.o

Yo antes montaba pero deje hace unos a'os, cuando me di cuenta que era una actividad que disfrutaba yo sola. Ahora disfruto de estar con los caballos libres en el campo jugando con ellos o haciendoles mimos

What an interesting topic. It's good that you take this up as I guess not many people have ever thought of it that way. I've never been a fan of the methods but many people are.
The drawing is very lovley, the colourscheme gives a mood of both a bit malancholic and still at ease. And really good work on the clouds, they are very effective!

Thank you very much n_n Yes...I really feel sad and powerless when I watch TV programs or youtube videos of people showing off those methods and the crown gets amazed by the horse' obedience but all I see is a scared and overwhelmed horse walking behind the trainer because he had no other choice. I'm glad I had the opporunity to work on this proyect and add my little grain of sand to the cause

Me encanta y me encantará siempre este tremendo dibujo que yo sé que le pusiste todo tu esmero y que lo haces por una causa noble y que además enseñas muchas cosas sobre los equinos... Esas nubes parecen de un amanecer inmortal, con la pose de ese hermoso caballo, como disfrutando a pleno del inicio de un nuevo día, con esa luz detrás de él que parece envolver su esbelta figura.
Las nubes son recontra complicadas y te las arreglaste como las mejores, no importa para mí que una sea diferente a la otra, aunque admito que mi ojo se va para el lado izquierdo del lienzo... es que MIRALA!!! ES ÉPICAAAAA ... forma parte del fondo y del hermoso corcel al mismo tiempo.
Y el brillo y ese pasto... GLORIOSA TU PINTURA!!
Y yo quiero saber más de los caballos, de la crianza y demás... Me puede servir de mucho para saber más de su comportamiento, sus sentimientos ... aunque de seguro todo eso está en el libro. La libertad mostrada aquí no tiene precio. Realmente... otro gran logro con los equinos. HERMOSO TRABAJO, GEOR, SOS GROSA!!!!!!

Nice pic, and what became to my mind about your description here... has been found information that horses can recognize humans facial expressions! That has actually nothing to do with freedom or taming, but it just came to mind because it tells how smart and clever horses are.

Wow, I knew that they are very very good at reading our body language but I had doubts about facial expression mainly because they are very different to most of the other mammals' ones. thanks for the info! I'll go and research it right now
Where my horse lives, there is a mare that can recognize different colours and over 50 different objects, her name is Wayra and she has been educated by the representant in Argentina of the Nevzorov Haute Ecole, who happens to be my hipology teacher and with whom I'm doing all the researchs n_n.
Alexander Nevzorov, the one who built the international school, has gone pretty far in developing his horses' intelect

I still have mixed feelings about developing a horse's intelect this much, I don't see where is the benefit for the horse and maybe it is worst for him or her (I feel it like, for example, when we are children we are happy almost every time but when our mind starts to develop, things get much more complicated...) I fear the same will happend to horses. We humans need to develop our intelect as much as we can, but a horse doesn't need, he doesn't get any benefit from it (other than solving simple problems as: how to steal food from inside the house xD but they can do it with their innate capabilities haha) and probably gets only the worst parts.
However, this research was very useful proving how much a horse can learn if given time, patience, and respect. And that after all, we humans are not as superior as we though we were n_n

If I'm right, horses see colours a bit differently than we humans (they can't see all colors as bright as we do), but they're indeed very good at recognizing differents.
Maybe a horse gets benefits from high intellect, but we don't just know how? After all, they are intellect animals, they are capable to learn many amazing things, so why they would have this capability if it were just worse for them? Many thinks that horses don't like to practice jumping or so, but I know some who really run into a horse-carriage because they know they're going to jumping, and those ones really loves to do that too (of course all horses don't like it, it is same as with us humans, someones of us likes sports and someones don't).

Respeto a lo que has comentado... sí, la violencia psicológica es la más frecuente cuando se trata de domar a un caballo y no debería ser así.
Yo hace años conocí a una yegua que apodé con el nombre de Sol a la que le estaban haciendo muchísimo daño así que la rescaté y me la quedé después de muchísimo papeleo, juicios y tal.
Al principio ella era muy desconfiada y nunca la presioné ni traté de montarla porque veía que ella sufría por lo que había vivido así que me gané su confianza de otro modo y al fin pude conseguir montarla
El caso es ese, poder ganarse la confianza del animal sin tener que gritarle, intimidarle y cosas así (yo tampoco estoy a favor de eso)

Si, entiendo perfectamente lo que vos decís
Ganarse la confianza de un caballo lleva muchísimo tiempo, y para los domadores no es rentable un proceso tan largo por lo que acuden a otros métodos que dan soluciones rápidas (en dos semanas ya podes tener un caballo mansito). El tema es que lo disfrazan de tal manera y con palabras lindas... prefieren decir que el caballo confía en ellos y los acepta como un líder cuando en realidad el pobre animal está asustado por todas las amenazas que recibió en el proceso y la indefensión aprendida inculcada. Me da mucha bronca lo hipócrita que pueden llegar a ser... aunque muchos creen en sus propias mentiras y no quieren o no pueden ver lo que en verdad le están causando al caballo.
En general en los hípicos también son maltratados, ya que la mayoría de la gente que trabaja no sabe mucho sobre caballos (esto incluye a los campeones del deporte, profesores, etc... solo saben como hacer para que el caballo se desempeñe de tal forma que le permita ganar competencias
