This was a request from

She wanted Sephiroth and her original character together in an unspecified pose. Embarrassingly enough, she commissioned me to draw this picture on July 6…….of 2010. Because I am the Queen of procrastination and forgetfulness, it has taken me over two years to start this project. She has been very gracious about the whole thing, often times telling me not to worry and to take as much time as I need. My God woman, you have the patience of a saint!

Original characters are not really my favorite thing to illustrate, but I had so much fun making this. I wasn’t even sure where I was going with the background before I was suddenly caught up in this rocky landscape. From what I know of her character, Kirianna was another experiment sent to kill Sephiroth; a girl with brown hair, great taste in jewelry, and those damn James Mcavoy eyes.

When I first began thinking of the concept, the original images that came to mind were very cliché, anime-esque—quite literally Kirianna being “swept off her feet”. But when I revisited this, I really wanted to do something interesting and challenging.

I’m not sure how this will be interpreted, but in my head, I think that Kirianna is feeling a bit of trepidation when faced with the decision to finish Sephiroth off or not. Maybe they had a conversation earlier, a connection or he brought to light what might happen to her after he is gone. I’m not even sure what took him down, because I’m no expert on the guy, but I’m almost certain that you have to be, like, Level 1,000,000 to scrape his knee.

Stylistically, Anime is not my favorite. In fact, when I started searching for references for Sephiroth I realized he embodies EVERY quality of a beautiful, powerful anime man. So much, in fact, that I wanted to really capture him in the equivalence of a bad hair day; I’m not overly fond of how a lot of men (or anyone, for that matter) are portrayed. My sister was over my shoulder much of the time I was drawing, making sure I Kept my commissioner’s feelings in mind.

NO FUGGO’S IN THIS HOUSE, APPARENTLY.

"Glorious and Epic masterpiece", that comment just made my life. I am thrilled that you like it and that I can finally give this picture to you, AFTER SO LONG! When I was drawing this the idea that Sephiroth would try to explicate her situation came to mind, but the pose was too much of a portrait for my taste. The more time I worked on the commission the easier it was for me to get sucked into their story. I just really enjoy the uncertainty of the scene and how it raises a lot of questions and can be interpreted in many ways. Thanking you for waiting and for the lovely comment!

very very very epic!!!! the concept of her wrestling within herself of if she should kill him or not adds a great deal of story behind this piece as well. ^_^ There was, within a storyline that I and someone had done, that had shown of Sephiroth asking her of what she would do when she had finally done her job. Thank you again for this glorious and epic masterpiece. ^^ I shall cherish it always.

First Comment. Background=awesome. Although upon closer inspection, I noticed that you are trying to pass off a squiggly blob as a rock....

You thought i wouldn't notice, but I did.
