GShGM-7.62 minigun

Роторный пулемёт ГШГМ-7.62

Cartridge: 7.62x54R
Action: gas-operated
Rate of fire: 3,000/6,000 rpm
Muzzle velocity: 800 m/s
Effective range: 500m
Feed system: special belt
Sights: none
Weight 15 kg (without ammo)

Manufacturer: Tula Arms Plant

Modernised version of old GShG-7.62 gas-powered minigun was adopted by Russian Military in 2027 for use with helicopters, combat vehicles and power armour. Advances materials allowed to lower the dry mass of gun by around 4kg...

Usage of hand-held configuration without power armour is not recommended, however, it can be done on lower RoF setting.

This gun is rather rare and costly to use - but terrifying.

Yes, of course!

In "Age of Atom" folder I collect only the new (developed between our times and Armageddon) and hand-crafted weapons.

A big gun doesn't make a big man. Still, pretty impressive.

Well done. I find it humorous they bothered putting a picatanny rail on the bottom two. With a gun like this there's hardly any practical reason to mount anything. It'd be like mounting flip up iron sights on a flamethrower.

Well... You can mount machine gun sight, or laser sight, or powerful flashlight...

You're actually right, a (green) laser would make sense, to get an immediate fix on where the ammo's being spent rather than 'spray and pray'. Mini guns in movies (e.g: Predator, Terminator series) have characters firing from the hip, a big no-no. It's easier to throw knives at a moving target while blindfolded.

Cheers!

On turret version ring-like AA machine gun sight would also make sense... Or NV scope...

On hand-held... Flashlight would also be useful - for non-Holliwood-bright night use.

Top is the "dry body", GShGM-7.62 is a modular gun.
