Aiden wasn't a child born from love. Of course his parents had loved each other, but it was only in their own warped sense of love. Aiden's father was manager in Ground Zero's sector 1. A highly respected man, but eccentric, and well known and feared by his employees for his volatile temper. Due to his obsession with work no one ever expected the man to ever find a partner, let alone marry someone, yet it somehow happened. Aiden's mother was a scientist for the same conglomerate of companies. The two of them met at work and even had their first dates there. She was of a similar mind as him; cold, analytical, and very private. Cerebral as they were, they one day decided that would be a shame not to pass on their good genes, so the birth of Aiden followed nine months later. He would remain the only child of the couple, because after his mother gave birth she swore she would never go through it again, and kept her promise on that for the rest of her life.
I wanted to paint a (quick) picture of Aiden's family, reflecting on the way he grew up. Even though the guy comes from a wealthy family, his home is very broken in a sense, mostly devoid of a sense of connection or love. It's no wonder the man grew up to have a very warped sense of morals.
In a way I imagine that, even if the picture was taken, it wouldn't end up in any of their houses or offices.
