Very nice! I see this right after I responded to your note---I hadn't seen your Sith version before..very well done!
I'll have to follow up on that tutorial for the light saber, in case I decide to make a Jedi or Sith Twi'Lek of my own.

Nice work.
To add a shadow you could do it in the following way:
Make a layer that is just of the blade.
Add a dropshadow to this layer.
Make the drop shadow a layer in it's won right by right clicking on the layer in the list and selecting "Create Layer".
Then you can transform the layer from the edit menu and use the perspective option to get it where you want it.
Adjust the colour and opacity of the layer as required.
This is pretty much the process I use if I need to add a shadow to a render that I have layered on top of an existing image. You can see a good example in Breathless of what I mean.
As for getting it to "glow", you could try another layer witha gaussian blur on it to give it that feel.
Hope that helps a bit. I know what it was like trying to work things out when I first started 3 years ago.

looks awesum man if u wanna tutorial on lightsabers for photoshop youtube has some great vids on it (its really easy tho)
