-Musical Talent :: Having lived for 200 years, Markus took up the violin and is quite good at it
-Sand structure :: Markus' physique is basically made up of dreamsand, when he wears his bracelets, he is mostly solid but slicing him will not work. This also means he can shapeshift.
-Dream powers :: dreamsand, good luck avoiding falling asleep, also insomniacs, don't worry, he got a hammer that will help you with that
-Dreamwalking :: Markus can't sleep, but at night he sometimes visits other people's dream for amusement

  Weaknesses:
-Water :: Being made of sand, if he can not keep his form solid, he would most likely fall apart
-Corruptable :: Markus is made of dreamsand, something that is said to be start of wishes, a substance that yells innocence. Nightmares and negative feelings can have quite a bad effect on him, stinging him from where nightmares touch him or feeling very sick and feverish from the negative feelings.
-Easily captured :: an empty hourglass or only a dreamcatcher without feathers is needed to catch this creature
-Keeping together :: for some reason, Markus has issues with keeping himself together, using magical bracelets to stay solid and look like a human without much effort. His hair still has a habit of going back into sand and getting in his eyes, hence the beanie.

  Personality:
Markus at first glance is probably a dream come true, which is logical, being a being made of dreamsand. The compliments of him being 'dreamy' and 'captivating' are nothing new to him. In fact, he has started to deny any compliments that can easily be because of that because he knows himself that that's something he is supposed to be, it is part of his species. Because of this, Markus often tries to be as realistic as possible in his outlook on life because of how easily opinions can be swayed in your favor depending on the circumstances. He tries to be as hardworking as any other person so he can earn any compliments that may have anything to do with his own accomplishments. The boy isn't all that negative in his outlook, in fact Markus takes great pride in his dream making and often tries to be as imaginative as possible. Also, he is fun-loving to the point of carelessness, he likes challenges and often doesn't look ahead at the possible dangers from it.

  History:
Markus was born in a small community of Sandmen. Well, it was more that he was made, out of one the tiniest pieces of dreamsand, and had the luck to accumulate more of it to become a Sandman himself. The other Sandmen, while being overjoyed by another one of them, handed him to an elder Sandman who had not yet been a guardian to a newborn yet and barely paid any attention Markus until he could keep a solid form unlike the sandswirl he was for a few decades. His guardian, Cervo, tried his best to teach him the general idea behind their community, they took care of a small area in the world and were mostly combatting the evergrowing Bogeymen issue, the natural enemies of Sandmen. Cervo, at least, thought differently about this. After having lived for several hundred years, he had come to the conclusion that there was supposed to be a balance between them and this was what he taught Markus as well, to be open to the differences. If the Sandmen were the so called 'light' they called themselves, then the 'dark' of the Bogeymen was needed to appreciate the light. Their stories had two sides and that's what Cervo taught the tiny sand swirl called Markus.

When Markus was around 60, Cervo had taught him more about his philosophy and the basics of using his dreampowers. While the little Sandman could still not get a humanoid form, Markus could change his form to animals and loved the freedom that came with getting a neighbourhood under his watch as practice. He was giggly and happy until he felt a chill run up his back, some of his dreamstrands, a kind of rope where he could check up on the dreams he made, were turning black. A Bogeyman was near. Markus gathered all his courage to go check on the dreams and what he feared, had happened, they had become nightmares. He was terrified of the idea of meeting a Bogeyman, he tried to ignore this fear, Cervo taught him that they were basically mirrors, maybe a conversation was all that was needed. Markus found, instead of a full grown Bogeyman, it actually seemed like a small one, maybe one around his ages, though he seemed to be able to keep a form together. The little Sandman eventually approached the other kid and while the Bogeyman was hesitant and tried to scare him off, Markus was still safe and saw a new friend in the Bogeyman.

The Bogeyman thought Markus was a moron, with his philosophical nonsense, but they had a fun time together. He helped Markus with learning different forms and although the sandswirl couldn't take on any scary forms, it helped him a lot. When Markus was around the 90, he finally was able to keep a humanoid form and he soon tried to find his best friend to surprise him. His friend laughed at the sudden sunkissed blondie, almost attacking him before that for not recognising the previous sandswirl. The kids had a blast together, Markus wanting to stay longer and just hang out with the Bogeyman, he had taught him so much about what he thought was fun, the Sandman even started to find some nightmares funny. Opposed to this happiness on his nighttime outings, the usual waking hours were spend with Cervo, being taught everything their community believed in. The only issue was that the other Sandmen seemed to doubt Markus as a proper Sandman for his slow progress in perfecting his form, young ones being taught by them usually only took 70 years.

When Markus was around 120, Cervo's teaching style was busted by the community. The nerve he had had to teach a young one that Bogeyman weren't bad, it deserved punishment. Markus cried as he saw his guardian being put in one of their hourglasses, the ones that were only used for captured Bogeyman normally, he didn't understand why they saw it as something bad, Cevo had been right! Seeing how they reacted, Markus held his tongue concerning his Bogeyman friend and the other Sandmen made a deal, they would teach him everything from the start until they were certain that the sandswirl had gotten rid of the corruption his guardian had put in him. Markus accepted, especially after they guaranteed Cervo's freedom after he had gotten through his teaching. It took him 70 years to finally be able to fool them that he had forgotten Cervo's teaching, 70 years of not being allowed to have nighttime outings, only stuck in their community to constantly read book after book, to get lectured again and again, to even being trained how to have a fight against a Bogeyman. It was worth it to Markus, while he would always have to act like someone else, at least he had gotten his guardian back, one of the two people he trusted with his life so far. Cervo was devastated, his student had went through something terrible only to save him, he refused to teach Markus anything anymore, not like he was allowed from the others, but he refused to drag Markus through something like that again.

The first time Markus was allowed outside again, his powers had grown exponentially and this time he could feel that there was someone messing with his dreams again. He was actually somewhat glad, he didn't want to hurt a Bogeyman but most of the times they would attack back and he had some pent up frustrations to deal with. The Bogeyman that had been corrupting his dreams into nightmares was almost mocking him, it made him actually somewhat happy, neither of them seemed in for a fight and after some yelling back and forth, a realisation happened, it was his best friend he had been attacking. The two were overjoyed once the realisation had set in, soon reminiscing about old times, his friend telling him that he thought he had crossed him because another Sandman had attacked him and so the Bogeyman had left town. They were glad to have found each other again, their friendship soon mending and getting back in their old flow of hanging out together whenever Markus could get out. That said, until a while ago when Markus got called to the community's leaders, he feared the worst but instead of getting some kind of punishment, they told him they were sending him to a school. After much persuasion from Cervo, they had agreed to admitting him to Vitrum Academy, they saw no hope in teaching him how to stay solid by themselves and reluctantly agreed to outside forces. Markus had no choice to accept but at least it would get him away from them, not to mention tht he could always sneak out to find his friend in the night.
