This place was the real apocalypse. I've never been anywhere trippier.New Idria, California, has a toxic waste river running through the ghost town mining area. The river is bright orange and reeks of rotten eggs, or to my dad, sulfur. Burnt down buildings and rusted objects scatter the whole place. I loved it.
It's a real life Fallout.
