Description
today did I find myself lucky to spend the afternoon around the airfield/airbases De Kooy. from this airfield operate several companies and are the NH-90's of the Dutch navy stationed.
CHC and Bel air operated daily flight from de Kooy to the drilling platforms in the dutch part of the north sea. These flights don’t consist with personal for 1 platform but personal for several platforms at once. A typical flight can evens visit 5 different platforms to deliver and pick personal up.
NHV has also several helicopters stationed here for rescue and transport operations. They pick up the sick and wounded people that are on the platforms or on a ship and deliver them to the nearest hospital. They do also take part in search and rescue operation on sea and have the equipment to pick people up from out of the sea.
De Kooy is a small but busy airport and sees many flights a day and is pretty interesting for people who like to see helicopters. Beside the airfield is Den Helder also the home of the Dutch navy and has the ferry to Texel.
