Man, I have NEVER done a picture of Raven and Mal together, and considering they were the only couple I knew from the beginning of D101 that'd end up together, that's kind of wack. Anyway, they may not stay together, considering they're both pretty young and have university ahead, but look at the cuteness!Y'know what I always found pretty amusing? D101 was never a comic that inspired much shipping amongst the readers, but what speculation did usually pop up was about Raven and Mackenzie. Which, for some reason, I just found really cute and didn't mind encouraging. I've seen some webcomic people (who shall remain nameless) absolutely flip out over shipping, but that pairing never bothered me, for some reason. Probably because I enjoyed drawing Raven and Mac together, being girly and such. But anyway, Mal and Raven are canon, and really deserve a picture. Aw, so cute. *pats*

Raven and Mal were my choice pairing from the beginning. I tend to be pretty laid back about ships, though...

Aw, they're so frickin' adorable!!! Kudos to Mal for finally nabbing Raven. I really love your artwork, and I must say this has to be one of my absolute favorite pictures you've done. You've really captured the essence of young love and all that jazz. I'm quite fond of pictures where people are close enough but don't actually kiss. That always seems more intimate than the kiss itself.
Anyhow, I'm rambling (which is sad considering this is text). Great picture!

Mal and Raven are adoraboo. If they were real I'd give them candy and noogies for being so cute. Otherwise, the picture is awesome, I bow before all who wield markers with such skill and flair and the poses are spiffy-keen with realism.

I dont get why people flip out over shipping i think its funny to see what other people think of your characters... sometimes shipping can even influence the cannon, it happened to one of my RPG characters once and well the rest was history, so they say! You know what's odd? I love that Raven and Mal are together. But... I also love the twisted alternate universe where Raven and Mac are together, and pictures of them together are intensely cute. What can I say? The D101 kids are adorable. I also agree with an earlier comment, that it's good to see that Raven has her priorities straight, and wants to take care of the problem of demons trying to kill her before she gets a boyfriend. It makes her a more likeable character, a rounder character.

They are so ADORABLE! I actually was never sure if Raven and Mal were going to be a couple, though towards the end it felt like there were hints that they could get together in the future.
I think it's kind of neat that Raven's love life was never that big of an issue during the course of the comic. A lot of times with female main characters it seems like they always have to have some kind of love interest/s or big romantic subplot going on; romance is nice, but surely not *every* girl would have it as a major priority.

Well, yeah. Not to make too fine a point of it, but it often disturbs me how media such as television, movies and comics deal with female characters ... so often they exist only as a love interest, and if they are the lead, they're usually crippled by some sort of pathetic love life (see: Buffy). I don't see this quite as much in books, but it kind of frustrates me.
Thus, I make my own comics.

I've been a fan of D101 for a long while, and, yeah, for some reason I was never really into the shippage. But I usually unconciously do that when I'm a little bored with the story and I feel like the author isn't giving their all. When a story is good, I'm satisfied with it. Period. I think this was the case.

I'm not sure why anyone would let shippage disturb them to that extent. It's not like it really matters, or takes effect on who has control over the story and characters. Sure, it's probably disturbing as hell for JK Rowling to stumble on Harry Potter porn, but no webcomic is at that level of reader lunacy.
*shrug* Then again, as I said, I haven't really had to deal with it. But I have seen webcomic authors have kittens over the barest mention of out-of-cannon shippage, and I find that kind of behavior pretty wanky.

Nah it was... really bad. Like people e-mailing her begging for someone to rape so-and-so because it would be "cute" and floods of really disturbing and/or out-of-character fanart. It was so frustrating that it ruined all the good feelings she had about the story and the characters. I think her inspiration for it was kind of finely balanced and the sheer amount of yaoi-bent fans kind of toppled it. Sad, really.

!!!! Ok, I don't know where I was, but I could have sworn that you once said that you weren't sure you could see Raven with either Mal or Eli. And the one time MAc kinda brought it up in the lazer-tag (or was it paintball... it's been too long since I read it) in episode 4 and teased Raven about it, Raven seemed to shut her down pretty fast with the "he's just a friend" and "I don't have time for a boyfriend" talk.
Don't get me wrong, I always really WANTED Mal and Raven to be a couple, and Mal's feelings in the matter were pretty obvious, but I never realized that Raven returned them... so I never got the impression that they were a canon couple.
In any case, a sweet pic, and one I have waited a long time to see

I could never see them together in the context of the comic, while dealing with Lethe trying to take over the world and such, but I knew they'd end up together at the very end of things, and they do. For a grand total of one panel in Episode 5. I felt it'd probably be way too distracting if, in the midst of battling demon minions, they go off for a date or something. That and Eli was always a bit of a factor... but I guess my reasoning was always that Mal deserves Raven. He's the one who's stuck by her and stood up to Eli for her, so I think they pretty much belong together.
