So instead of a hollow core, you used a sheet of fiberglass cut to the shape you desired? I would imagine that you would have to layer them as fiberglass can be a tad whippy

I had the rods made that way...Make a big sheet and have a water jet machine cut the rods (which are flat for correct bending) out.

curved weapons are amazing.
I do not bend the rods but I have fiberglass panes made and the shapes are cut from them. The rods are flat. It gives a much better realistic handling of the blades as they do not bend along the edge only the flat part... Some larps find them too stiff but I disagree it gives you a much better control over the weapon and you don't have to hit hard. We fight in real armor and I find personaly that some larpers are wusses. They want to play the fighter but can't live with the consequences....

I can't find isoflex in canada. It's illegal here...
I've tried a few professionnal coatings but they peel off in the rain and with usage...
I've been using Liquitex flexible varnish mixed in with the final coats of latex used for coloring the blades. It works well.
UI still have one coating that I have yet to try... I tested it int he shower and seems to adhere better than the others...
And yes I made a bunch of curved cores in fiberglass. It makes wonderful weapons !
